How to Reconnect a Shark Robot Vacuum to Wi-Fi

Use SharkClean on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, then restart and retry the connection flow. Shark pairing buttons and light indicators vary by model, so check the matching manual before resetting Wi-Fi.

Reconnect your Shark robot through the SharkClean app with your phone on your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If the robot stays offline, restart the robot and phone, forget the temporary Shark network on your phone, then try the app’s connection process again. Use the manual for your exact model before resetting Wi-Fi or holding buttons; controls and indicator lights vary across Shark robot families.

First check whether the connection loss is temporary

A robot that has moved under furniture or far from the router may briefly lose its connection and reconnect automatically when it returns within range. Give it a chance to reconnect before resetting Wi-Fi. If it remains offline, work through the checks below.

Check your phone and home Wi-Fi

  • Connect your phone to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network before setting up the robot. Shark says its robots cannot connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If your router combines the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands under one network name, make sure the phone is using the 2.4 GHz band during setup.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi password is correct. If the network does not appear, confirm that your phone can see the 2.4 GHz network and that the robot is within workable range of the router.
  • Turn off any VPN or proxy while troubleshooting, and check that Wi-Fi isolation is disabled on the router.
  • If your phone asks for local-network access, allow it for SharkClean in the phone’s privacy settings.

Shark’s troubleshooting guidance covers these connection requirements in its Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Checklist and UK Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Checklist.

Restart the robot and retry setup in SharkClean

Use the power controls and wait times specified in the manual for your robot. In the cited Shark guide, the reconnection sequence is to turn the robot off, wait, restart it on its base, restart the phone, forget the Shark network in the phone’s Wi-Fi settings, reopen SharkClean, and retry the app’s connection flow.

  1. Look up the robot’s model number and open the matching manual.
  2. Follow that manual’s instructions to turn the robot off, wait the specified time, and restart it on its base.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. In your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, forget the temporary Shark network if it is listed.
  5. Reconnect the phone to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, open SharkClean, and follow the app’s connection steps.

Do not assume that the power-off timing in one model’s instructions applies to another. Shark’s random Wi-Fi disconnection guidance describes the restart and retry steps.

Enter pairing mode only with your model’s instructions

If the app still cannot connect, the robot may need to re-enter Wi-Fi pairing mode. Button combinations and reset timing are not universal. Find the model number on the robot or its documentation, then use the corresponding manual or support page before pressing and holding buttons.

In one Shark guide, holding the specified three buttons for three seconds starts pairing; a blue Wi-Fi light and the spoken prompt “I am ready to connect to Wi-Fi” indicate that the robot is ready. Treat this as an example for the guide that gives those instructions, not a procedure for every Shark robot.

Use Wi-Fi lights as clues, not universal codes

Light patterns can help distinguish a failed connection from a password or network-discovery issue, but their meanings depend on the model. For example, the cited Matrix guide describes flashing red Wi-Fi as a connection failure and gives separate indicator combinations for an incorrect password and an undiscovered network. Check the guide for your robot rather than applying a Matrix light code to another family.
