Capture the webpage with a tool that supports full-page screenshots, then insert the saved image into Word and keep its proportions locked. If the whole page becomes too small to read on one sheet, use a landscape section for extra width or split the screenshot into consecutive, clearly labeled segments across pages. A tall page cannot always fit on one standard page at a comfortable reading size.
Capture the whole scrollable webpage
Start with a browser capture method that explicitly supports full-page screenshots. For example, Playwright documents capturing the entire scrollable page with fullPage: true in its screenshot API: Playwright screenshot documentation. The example below uses Node.js and saves a full-page PNG.

This requires Playwright and a browser installation in your Node.js environment; follow the current setup instructions in Playwright’s documentation. The capture option requests the full scrollable page, rather than only the portion visible in the browser window.
Word’s built-in Screenshot or Screen Clipping command is useful for capturing an open window or a selected visible area, but Microsoft’s instructions do not describe it as a scrolling full-page capture method. Use it when a visible screen area is sufficient, not as a substitute for a full-page browser capture. See Microsoft’s screenshot and screen-clipping instructions.

Insert the screenshot and preserve its proportions
- Save the full-page capture as an image file.
- In Word, use Insert > Pictures and select the saved image. Menu wording and availability can vary by Word version and platform.
- Resize from a corner handle, or enter a new height and width using Word’s picture size controls. Keep the aspect ratio locked so the page is not stretched or compressed.
- Check the result at the size at which readers will view or print it. The useful size depends on the paper, margins, image shape, and the detail readers need; there is no universal pixel width or readability threshold established by the cited product instructions.

Choose a layout that keeps the content legible
Use landscape when width is the problem
A landscape page provides more horizontal room. Microsoft Support says, “A landscape page in an otherwise portrait document lets you fit wide elements like tables and diagrams onto the page.” See Microsoft’s orientation guidance.
If the rest of the report should stay portrait, put the screenshot on its own section and change that section’s orientation. In desktop Word, insert section breaks around the content that needs the different layout, then change the orientation for that section. Microsoft’s instructions explain how section breaks apply layout changes to one section. Menu steps depend on edition and platform; the cited section-break guidance applies to the listed desktop editions. Microsoft also documents applying landscape orientation to selected content in its orientation guidance.

Landscape adds width, not height. If a screenshot is extremely tall, fitting all of it on one page can still make its text too small.
Split a tall screenshot across pages when detail matters
When the image needs to remain readable, divide it into consecutive vertical segments and place them on separate report pages. This is a practical layout recommendation, not an automatic Word feature or a universal rule about image sizing.
- Make the segments overlap slightly if needed to preserve context at the joins, while avoiding repeated or missing content.
- Insert each segment at a readable width without distorting it.
- Label them in order, such as “Page capture 1 of 3,” so readers can follow the webpage from top to bottom.
- Insert a manual page break between segments. Word documents page breaks as a way to start the next page; see Microsoft’s page-break instructions.
If the report must show the entire page as one image, consider placing a full-size digital appendix or a separate image or PDF alongside a readable overview. Check your organization’s rules for attachments or linked files.

Choose by asking whether below-the-fold content must be included, whether the image is legible at its intended viewing size, whether other report pages must remain portrait, and whether readers need one overview or complete sequential detail.

Do not assume every Word menu or layout control appears identically in desktop, web, Mac, Windows, or mobile versions. Microsoft Learn says Word for the web can adjust margins, paper size, and orientation; insert pictures; and rotate, resize, or crop them. It also notes feature differences and directs users to desktop Word for full functionality. See Word for the web’s service description. Fix common problems
The screenshot contains only the visible viewport
Confirm that the browser capture method supports full-page capture and that the screenshot call uses its full-page option. In Playwright, that option is fullPage: true. Word’s screen-clipping command is not documented as capturing content below the visible area.
The image looks stretched
Undo the resize and change the image size with its proportions maintained. Avoid dragging a side handle in a way that changes width without the corresponding height.

The text is too small after insertion
Do not force a tall page into one sheet. Try landscape if width is the constraint; if height is the constraint, divide the screenshot into ordered segments on separate pages.
Only one part of the report changes orientation
Use section breaks to isolate the screenshot layout, then apply landscape to that section. Orientation and section-break controls vary by Word edition and platform.
