A well-fitted case and safer carrying habits can reduce everyday impact and pressure on a thin phone, but neither makes it bend-proof. Use a case designed for your exact model, keep the phone out of places where it can be crushed, and stop using it if its enclosure or battery may be damaged.
Choose a case made for your exact phone
Look for a case explicitly compatible with your phone’s model and with raised, rounded edges around the screen. Google recommends raised, rounded edges to help prevent a cracked screen in its Pixel screen-care guidance. Check that the case fits securely and leaves any features you rely on usable.

Change how you carry and store the phone
- Do not keep the phone in a back pocket where sitting on it could crack the screen.
- Keep it away from hard objects such as keys that can scratch it.
- Avoid leaving it in extreme heat or cold, including inside a hot or cold car.
- When setting it down or packing it, avoid situations where heavy objects could press or crush it.
These habits address pressure, scratches, and temperature exposure that a case cannot eliminate. Google lists back-pocket pressure, hard objects, and extreme temperatures among the conditions to avoid in its screen-care advice.
Foldable phones need their own care instructions
Do not assume ordinary slab-phone advice covers a foldable’s hinge and inner display. Follow the instructions for the exact foldable model. For Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4, Samsung advises against pressing on the folding area or folding the screen with cards, keys, sand, or other objects between the screens. It also says to keep the protective film attached; the film is a consumable, and arbitrary removal or unapproved films can affect the panel or performance. What to do if the phone is bent or damaged
If the enclosure is visibly bent, crushed, cracked, or otherwise physically damaged—or you suspect battery damage—stop using the phone and contact the manufacturer or an authorized service provider for inspection. Do not try to bend it back or continue using it to see whether it still works. Google warns that use of a damaged phone may cause overheating or injury; its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro safety guide specifically cautions that bending or crushing can damage the phone or battery. Apple likewise advises discontinuing use if damage to the iPhone or battery is suspected in its iPhone safety information.
