Use your browser’s Print command and choose its PDF destination, then open the saved file and test the links you need. Chrome, Firefox, and Edge document how to save or print a webpage as a PDF, but their instructions do not guarantee that links will remain clickable on every page, operating system, or PDF viewer.
Print a webpage to PDF in Chrome
- Open the webpage on your computer.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print window, select a PDF destination such as Save as PDF. Choose available settings such as pages, layout, and margins.
- Save the file, open it in your PDF viewer, and click a few important links to check that they work.
Google’s Chrome printing instructions describe selecting a destination and print settings before printing.

Save a webpage as PDF in Firefox
- Open the webpage and choose the menu button, then Print….
- In print preview, set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Review available options, including page range, orientation, color, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, and backgrounds.
- Select Print to save the PDF. Open it and inspect both the layout and the links.
Webpages can arrange themselves differently for print than they appear on screen, so check the preview for missing or rearranged content. Firefox’s simplified format is available only where offered and disables print backgrounds. See Mozilla’s Firefox printing guide.
Print a webpage to PDF in Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on Mac, or choose Print from the browser menu.
- Choose the available PDF destination and adjust the print settings.
- Print or save the file, then open it and test representative links.
If the browser’s print window does not offer the controls you need, Edge also supports Print using system dialog. Its shortcuts are Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows and Option+Command+P on macOS. Edge can also print a selected portion of a page: select the content, then use the context-menu Print option. See Microsoft’s Edge printing instructions.

Will links in the PDF be clickable?
They may be, but the documented browser workflows do not promise that every link on every webpage will be preserved as a working hyperlink. The result can depend on the browser and operating-system versions, how the page is marked up or styled for print, and the PDF viewer. Treat link preservation as something to verify in your saved file, not a guaranteed setting.
Open the PDF in the viewer you normally use. Move the pointer over or select a few links, then click them. Check both links in the main text and any important navigation or reference links you need to keep.

Fix common print-to-PDF problems
- A link does not work: Retry using the browser’s own PDF destination rather than a generic virtual printer, then inspect the resulting PDF again. This is a troubleshooting suggestion, not a guaranteed fix. If the page offers a direct PDF or a reader-friendly format, consider saving that instead.
- Content is missing or shifted: Review print preview and try changing scale, orientation, margins, or page range. Webpages may use a print layout that differs from the screen layout.
- You need a system print option in Edge: Choose Print using system dialog or use the platform shortcut listed above.
- You need only part of an Edge page: Select the desired text or content and use the context-menu Print option.
- You are using Safari on Mac: Apple’s documented Safari saving options include Web Archive and Page Source. Apple says links in a Web Archive work while their destination webpages remain available; that is not confirmation that Safari’s PDF export preserves hyperlinks. See Apple’s Safari page-saving guide.
