Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBefore fighting an ekimma—listed as an ekimmara in the game references—read its Bestiary entry, coat your silver sword with Vampire Oil, and keep Quen ready. Igni and Devil’s Puffball are additional options. For other vampires, identify the subtype first: their vulnerabilities and tactics can differ.
What to prepare for an ekimma
- Silver sword: Apply Vampire Oil before the fight. It increases attack power against vampires.
- Quen: Keep the defensive sign available so you can protect yourself while looking for a safe opening to attack.
- Igni: The Bestiary references list it as a vulnerability.
- Devil’s Puffball: Use it as another damage option; it is described as dealing poison damage.
The Prima Games ekimmara guide and the Witcher Wiki entry list Vampire Oil, Devil’s Puffball, and Igni among the ekimmara’s vulnerabilities. The in-game Bestiary is the useful check for the creature in your current save.

Choose the Vampire Oil tier you can make
The listed attack bonuses increase with each tier. These are game-item effect figures from The Official Witcher Wiki, not combat-test results.

|---|---|
| Vampire Oil | +10% |
| Enhanced Vampire Oil | +25% |
| Superior Vampire Oil | +50% |
The figures are listed on the Vampire Oil and Enhanced Vampire Oil item references. Enhanced Vampire Oil is listed with 40 charges, and its recipe includes one Vampire Oil plus other ingredients. Check the alchemy menu in your game for the recipe and ingredients available to your current inventory; the tier you can craft depends on your progress and acquired formulae.
#1 Best Overall
- Trained from early childhood and mutated to gain superhuman skills, strength, and reflexes, witchers are a counterbalance to the monster-infested world in which they live.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth, and complexity.
- Take on the most important contract of your life: to track down the child of prophecy, the key to saving or destroying this world.
Fight from openings, not trades
- Read the ekimmara Bestiary entry before engaging so you know which enemy you are facing.
- Apply Vampire Oil to your silver sword before the fight.
- Keep Quen ready, then attack when you have a safe opening rather than trading hits.
- Use Igni or Devil’s Puffball as supplementary options if they suit the encounter.
Adjust your plan for other vampires
Do not assume every vampire behaves like an ekimma or shares its listed vulnerabilities. Check the specific subtype’s Bestiary entry, then adapt to its tactics and the oils or alchemy items you can make. Some vampire encounters involve invisibility; the Prima Games vampire guide describes Yrden as useful for revealing or restraining certain such enemies. That advice concerns those vampire types and should not be treated as a confirmed mechanic for every ekimma.
