You generally can’t pair a Bluetooth soundbar directly with an Xbox to hear game audio. Instead, connect the Xbox to your TV over HDMI, then pair the soundbar with the TV if the TV supports Bluetooth audio. If the Bluetooth delay is distracting, use HDMI ARC/eARC between the TV and soundbar when both devices support it.
Connect the Xbox to a Bluetooth soundbar through your TV
- Connect the Xbox to the TV. Plug the console into an HDMI input on the TV.
- Put the soundbar into pairing mode. Follow the soundbar’s manual; the button or procedure differs by model.
- Pair it from the TV. Open the TV’s Bluetooth or audio-output settings, select the soundbar from the available devices, and set the TV’s audio output to that Bluetooth device. Menu paths vary by TV model and software version. For example, LG publishes different paths for webOS versions 2026 and later, 2021–2025, and 2020 and earlier. - Play a game and check the timing. Bluetooth may introduce audio lag. If sound arrives noticeably after the action on screen, try a wired connection instead.
TV settings and supported connections differ by model. If the menus or ports do not match these directions, check the manuals for your specific TV and soundbar.

Why direct Xbox-to-soundbar Bluetooth pairing usually does not work
Xbox Series X does not provide native Bluetooth audio output, according to Asurion’s Xbox Series X soundbar setup guide. That claim is specific to Series X; do not assume every Xbox generation has identical audio support. For Series X, route audio through a TV that supports Bluetooth audio, or use a wired connection supported by your equipment.

Choose a connection that suits your setup

Neither connection availability nor the audio formats passed through the TV are universal; check the specifications and manuals for your devices. Sony’s connection instructions describe options according to available jacks and features, while LG cautions that settings vary by model in its support guidance.

Fix common connection problems
The soundbar does not appear in the TV’s Bluetooth list
- Confirm the soundbar is in pairing mode, following its manual.
- Disconnect it from nearby phones or tablets that may have reconnected automatically, then search again from the TV.
- Check that the TV supports Bluetooth audio, not just Bluetooth functions for other purposes.
There is no sound over HDMI ARC/eARC
Make sure the cable runs from the TV’s port labeled ARC or eARC to the soundbar’s corresponding ARC/eARC port. A regular HDMI port will not return TV audio to the soundbar. Then select the TV’s external audio system output. LG and Sony both identify using the correct ARC/eARC ports as necessary for this setup.
There is no sound over optical
Confirm the TV has an optical output and the soundbar has an optical input, connect those ports, and set the TV output and soundbar input to optical or the matching external-audio mode.

Bluetooth audio is out of sync
Bluetooth can introduce delay, and the amount depends on the devices; the available setup guidance does not provide a universal latency figure. If the delay is distracting, try HDMI ARC/eARC if both devices support it, or use optical when matching ports are available.
