The product you need is UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection for PS4. Sony’s listing identifies it as a PS4 release containing three remastered single-player campaigns:
- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
The collection was released on October 9, 2015, by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is the console version that provides access to Among Thieves on PS4 and, through PS5 backward compatibility, on PS5.

The Nathan Drake Collection listing presents the package as a single-player release. It does not list the original Uncharted 2 multiplayer modes as included, so purchase it for the campaign rather than expecting the original online multiplayer experience.
How to play Uncharted 2 on PS4
You can use either a physical PS4 disc or a digital license. Both routes install the same collection and lead to the same in-game selection screen.
Physical-disc installation
- Get the PS4 disc edition of UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection.
- Insert the disc into the PS4.
- Allow the console to copy and install the game data. Keep the disc available because the PS4 normally uses it to verify ownership when you start the game.
- Install any update the console offers before launching if you want the most current version available for your system.
- Start The Nathan Drake Collection from the PS4 home screen.
- Choose Uncharted 2: Among Thieves from the collection’s game-selection menu.
Digital installation
- Purchase or redeem the PS4 digital version of UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection through your PlayStation account.
- Open your PS4 game library and find the collection.
- Select Download and wait for the installation to finish. A large game may show a playable portion before all data has downloaded; starting the campaign is more reliable after the full installation completes.
- Launch the collection and select Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
The collection’s menu is the starting point. There is no separate PS4 download of Among Thieves required when you own the collection.

How to play Uncharted 2 on PS5
The PS5 route uses the PS4 edition of The Nathan Drake Collection. Sony lists that PS4 game as playable on PS5, while warning: “Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent.” That is a compatibility notice, not a statement that the campaign is unavailable.

Using a digital license
- On the PS5, open Game Library and switch to the Your Collection or purchased-games view associated with the PlayStation account that owns the PS4 collection.
- Find UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection.
- Choose the download or install option for the PS4 version shown for your account.
- Let the installation complete, then start the collection.
- Select Uncharted 2: Among Thieves from the collection menu.
If the game is not visible, check that the PS5 is signed in to the account that bought or redeemed the collection. A PS4 purchase does not become a separate PS5 remaster; you are installing the compatible PS4 release.
Using a disc
- Use the PS4 disc of The Nathan Drake Collection.
- Insert it into a PS5 model with a disc drive. A digital-only PS5 cannot read a physical disc.
- Install the game when the console prompts you.
- Leave the disc inserted when starting the game so the console can verify the license.
- Launch the collection and choose Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Update the PS5 before troubleshooting
Sony’s compatibility listing notes that the PS5 may require current system software. If the console reports that an update is needed, go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings, install the available update, restart if requested, and then try the collection again.
The available compatibility information does not establish a universal PS5 frame-rate figure, resolution mode or performance guarantee. Do not assume that every PS4 feature is present or that a particular performance number applies to every PS5 system configuration.

Your practical choices are a disc, a digital purchase or a PlayStation Plus Premium catalog entitlement. The best route depends on whether you want permanent ownership, the ability to resell or lend a disc, or temporary access through a subscription.

Is Uncharted 2 on PlayStation Plus?
The PlayStation Store currently shows a PlayStation Plus Premium access option for The Nathan Drake Collection. That does not establish permanent or worldwide availability. Catalogs are regional and change over time, so check the collection’s own Store page while signed in to your account before relying on a subscription.
If the Premium listing disappears, the dependable alternatives are the PS4 disc or a digital purchase. A subscription entitlement also ends if the title leaves the catalog or if your qualifying subscription is no longer active.
Do you need a PS4 copy for PS5?
Yes, you need access to the PS4 version of The Nathan Drake Collection, either through its disc, a digital license or an eligible subscription catalog listing. You do not need to own a PS4 console. The PS5 can install and run the compatible PS4 release directly.

Why Legacy of Thieves is the wrong purchase
UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection is a PS5 remaster built around two later games:
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
It does not contain Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The franchise listings separate Among Thieves into The Nathan Drake Collection, so check the product name and included games before paying.
Support guidance about playing with a PS4 disc after installing Legacy of Thieves concerns the Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy discs. It should not be interpreted as a method for adding Among Thieves to a PS5.
What the collection includes—and what it does not
Included
- The complete single-player campaign of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
- The other two campaigns in the Nathan Drake trilogy: Drake’s Fortune and Drake’s Deception.
- A PS4 release that Sony lists as playable on PS5.
Not established as included
- The original Uncharted 2 multiplayer modes are not presented in the official collection listing.
- A dedicated native PS5 edition of Among Thieves is not identified by the compatibility listing.
- A universal PS5 performance specification is not published in the available official information.
Plan on a single-player playthrough. If online multiplayer is the reason you are considering the purchase, this collection is not advertised as providing it.

Common problems and fixes
The wrong game appears in the Store search
Search specifically for UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection and confirm that the description lists Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. If the listing names only Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, you are looking at Legacy of Thieves.
The game is missing from the PS5 library
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that purchased or redeemed the collection.
- Check the library’s PS4 games filter rather than looking only for PS5-native software.
- If you own a disc, insert it before searching the installed-games list.
- Restore the license from Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses, then check the library again.
The PS5 says the game cannot start
Install the latest PS5 system software if prompted. For a disc copy, confirm that the disc is inserted and readable. For a digital copy, verify that the download finished and that the purchasing account is active on the console.
The PS4 disc does not work on the console
A physical disc requires a disc drive. It will not work on a digital-only PS5. On a PS4, clean the disc and confirm that the console recognizes other game discs before assuming the collection itself is defective.
A feature seems different from the PS4 version
Sony explicitly warns that some PS4 features may be absent on PS5. Compare the behavior on the PS4 version only when a specific feature matters to you; do not treat the compatibility label as a guarantee that every peripheral, menu or legacy function is identical.
How much should you expect to pay?
No region-independent price is established. Store prices, used-disc prices, taxes, promotions and PlayStation Plus eligibility vary by country and date. Check the price shown for your own account rather than relying on an old screenshot or a price quoted for another market.
The PlayStation Store listing recorded a 4.62 out of 5 average rating from 178,000 ratings in a 2026 snapshot. Store ratings are volatile, so that figure can change as additional players submit ratings.
