Which original Tomb Raider games are included?
“The original Tomb Raider games” usually means the six Core Design-era releases, not every later game carrying the Tomb Raider name. The current PC route divides those six games into two collections.

Do the remasters contain the expansions?
Yes for I-III. The first collection includes the complete listed expansion set: Unfinished Business for the first game, Golden Mask for the second, and The Lost Artifact for the third. Steam describes the package as including the original three adventures with their expansions and secret levels.
For IV-VI, the named content is The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness. Do not assume that every historical add-on or regional bonus is present unless the live store description names it.

Buy I-III Remastered for the first trilogy
Choose Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft if you want Lara’s first three numbered adventures and their named expansion campaigns. It is the correct single purchase for Tomb Raider I, Tomb Raider II, and Tomb Raider III on a current PC.
Buy IV-VI Remastered for the later Core Design games

Buy both for Tomb Raider 1-6
There is no single collection listed here that combines all six games. To play the complete I-VI sequence, purchase both packages. Store prices, discounts, patches, and regional availability change, so check the live store page at the time of purchase rather than relying on an old price.

Windows 11 and minimum PC requirements
The remasters are not demanding by modern gaming standards, but the published requirements still matter. The figures below are the minimums shown on the respective Steam listings, not recommended settings or a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

Although the I-III page still shows Windows 7, Steam’s current client policy makes Windows 10 or later the practical baseline for a supported setup. Windows 11 therefore meets the operating-system baseline for both collections, provided the rest of the hardware is compatible.

- Open Settings, choose System, then About, and confirm that the system type is 64-bit.
- In the same area, note the processor model and installed RAM. You need at least 4 GB of memory and a CPU comparable to the listing for the collection you want.
- Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and use your graphics information, or open the graphics driver utility, to identify the GPU model.
- Compare the GPU with the minimum class in the table. A model name alone does not guarantee performance if the computer is using an older driver, integrated graphics, or a power-saving profile.
- For I-III, make sure the drive has at least 5 GB free. Leave additional room for the store client, updates, and normal Windows operation.
Meeting a minimum specification means the game is within the publisher’s stated hardware range. It does not promise that every visual option will perform equally well, especially on a laptop running from integrated graphics.
How to install the games on Windows 11
1. Pick a storefront
Steam lists both remastered collections for PC. The official IV-VI announcement also identifies Epic Games Store and GOG. Choose the storefront where you already keep your games, where your preferred controller or cloud-save workflow is available, and where the current regional listing is valid.
2. Check the live product page
Before paying, verify the collection name, included games, operating-system requirements, storage requirement where stated, and the current edition. Product pages can change after patches or regional updates. Confirm that you are buying I-III, IV-VI, or both rather than a soundtrack, bundle, or unrelated Tomb Raider release.

3. Install the store client and sign in
Install the client for your chosen storefront, sign in to the account that will own the game, and complete the purchase. If you already own a collection, open your library instead of purchasing it again.

4. Select an installation drive
Choose a drive with enough free space for the collection and future updates. A solid-state drive can make launching and loading feel more responsive, but the published minimums do not require a particular drive type.
5. Let the first installation finish completely
Do not launch while the client is still downloading or applying an update. Once the status shows that the game is installed, start it from the library. If the client offers a file-verification option after a failed download, run that check before repeatedly reinstalling.
6. Set display and input options on first launch
Choose a resolution and display mode that match your monitor, then decide whether you want the remastered presentation or the classic visual style. Connect a controller before launching if you intend to use one, and confirm that the game recognizes the desired input device.
Classic graphics versus remastered graphics
Both collections allow you to switch between the updated presentation and the original polygonal look. That makes it possible to learn a room or compare an atmosphere without installing separate legacy builds.

Use remastered visuals when you want readability
The updated mode is the practical starting point for a first playthrough on a modern display. It is designed to make the old environments easier to view while retaining the same underlying adventures. Use it when lighting, texture clarity, and a cleaner presentation matter more than historical appearance.
Use classic visuals when authenticity matters
Switch to the classic mode when you want to see the angular geometry and original visual character. The instant comparison is also useful for understanding how a remastered scene differs from the source presentation.
Photo mode and Challenge Mode in I-III
I-III Remastered adds photo mode and updates Challenge Mode with additional outfits and achievements. These are optional features; they do not replace the original campaigns. If you want the straightforward original progression, start the main game and treat the extra modes as supplementary content.
Modern controls or original tank controls?
The control choice changes how Lara moves and how you handle the camera. The right option depends on whether you want modern responsiveness or the deliberate handling associated with the original games.

Choose classic controls for the original feel
Classic tank-style controls preserve the older handling model. Lara’s movement is organized around deliberate directional inputs rather than free, contemporary movement. Select this mode if you are replaying the games for authenticity, learning from older playthroughs, or prefer the precision of a fixed movement scheme.
How to change your mind
Start with the control scheme that matches your experience, then look in the game’s input or options menu if you want to change it. Because the collections support both approaches, you do not need a second edition to try the alternative. If a control change feels wrong, restore the previous scheme before changing several other settings at once; that makes it easier to identify which option affected movement.

The expansions can also be played later as separate campaigns. The order above keeps each named add-on next to the main game it accompanies, while still preserving the transition from I-III to IV-VI.
Troubleshooting on a modern Windows PC
The game will not install
- Confirm that the selected drive has enough free space, especially for I-III’s published 5 GB minimum.
- Check that the storefront client is fully updated and that you are signed in to the account that owns the collection.
- Pause other large downloads and restart the client if the installation remains stuck at the same percentage.
- Use the client’s file-verification command if the download completed but the launcher reports missing or corrupt data.
The game launches and immediately closes
- Restart Windows and launch the game again without other demanding applications running.
- Confirm that the PC is using the intended dedicated GPU rather than a low-power integrated-graphics profile.
- Install the current graphics driver supplied for your GPU and reboot after the driver update.
- Check that the operating system is 64-bit and at least Windows 10, which is the practical supported baseline for the current Steam client.
The picture is too dark, stretched, or difficult to read
- Match the game resolution to the monitor’s native resolution first.
- Try the remastered visual mode if the classic presentation is hard to read on a high-resolution display.
- Check Windows display scaling and the monitor’s aspect-ratio mode if the image appears stretched.
- Change one display setting at a time, then restart the game if the new setting is not applied immediately.
The controls feel wrong
- Confirm whether the game is set to modern or classic controls; the two schemes intentionally feel different.
- Disconnect unused controllers and test with only the device you plan to use.
- Reconnect the controller before launching if button input is not detected.
- Use the game’s input options to restore the default layout before creating a custom mapping.
Performance is inconsistent
- Compare the PC with the published minimum rather than assuming that any Windows 11 computer has a gaming-class GPU.
- Close browser tabs, recording software, and other programs that compete for memory or graphics resources.
- Use the classic visual mode as a diagnostic comparison. If performance improves there, the remastered presentation is placing the greater load on the system.
- On a laptop, connect the power adapter and select the manufacturer’s performance profile before testing again.
What the remasters do not promise
These collections make the original adventures practical to install on a current PC, but they do not turn every historical behavior into a modern game. The classic control option remains deliberately different from free movement, and the classic visual mode preserves the older look rather than replacing it with contemporary assets everywhere.
The requirement figures are minimums from store listings. They do not establish a recommended resolution, frame-rate target, ultrawide support policy, or compatibility with every old peripheral. If a particular monitor, controller, or graphics feature is essential to your setup, check the live storefront notes and the collection’s current patch information before purchasing.
