Quordle asks you to solve four five-letter words at once: each five-letter guess is entered across all four boards, and the rules described by Quordle.game allow nine attempts. Read the color clues separately on each board, then use early guesses to gather information across the whole grid rather than focusing on only one answer.
How Quordle works
The Quordle.game rules page describes four boards, each with a five-letter answer. You enter one five-letter word, and that guess is applied to all four boards. Feedback can differ from board to board because each answer is evaluated independently.

The rules page gives players nine total attempts. It also says guesses must be valid five-letter English words and that you cannot submit the same guess twice. These details describe the implementation documented at Quordle.game’s rules page; they should not be assumed to cover every Quordle site or version.

How to enter a guess
You can type with a physical keyboard or use the on-screen keyboard. On the rules page, Enter submits a complete guess and Backspace removes the last letter. The on-screen keyboard may split keys into four sections, one for each board, so you can track feedback by puzzle.
- Fill all five spaces with a valid word.
- Press Enter or tap the on-screen Enter key to submit it to all four boards.
- Read the feedback on every board before entering your next word.
- Use Backspace to correct an unsubmitted entry.
What the colors mean
Each board gives its own feedback for every letter in your guess:
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer, but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is not in that board’s answer.
A letter can be green on one board, yellow on another, and gray on a third. Treat every board’s colors independently; a key’s status on one board does not determine its status on the others. The keyboard’s four sections, where shown, can help you keep those clues straight.
A practical strategy for your first game
Use early guesses to collect information
Quordle.game’s strategy advice recommends using the first two or three guesses to test as many different letters as possible, with common letters such as E, A, R, S, T, O, L, I, and N as useful candidates. This is a practical suggestion, not a guaranteed optimal opening: the value of any guess depends on the answers and clues in your particular game.

Because a guess applies to every board, an early word can reveal useful information even if it does not solve any one answer. Avoid spending turns narrowly on one board while leaving the others unexplored. Once multiple boards show promising placements, choose guesses that use those clues while still checking what they reveal elsewhere.

Keep clues board-specific
Before each turn, scan all four boards and their keyboard sections. A letter ruled out on one board may still belong in another answer, and a yellow clue on one board only tells you to move that letter within that board’s word.

Quordle.game’s rules and FAQ describe the mechanics above, as well as unlimited rounds, randomly selected answers, mobile keyboard use, and shareable spoiler-free results. A separate result at dev.quordle.com lists Classic, Extreme, Chill, Sequence, Rescue, and Weekly Challenge modes. The available information does not establish that these pages describe the current official Merriam-Webster implementation or that their rules apply across versions.
