Yes, ARC Raiders can be played solo. You deploy alone into a surface filled with hostile ARC machines and other Raiders, collect items, complete practical objectives, and leave through an active extraction point with the loot you want to keep. Solo success does not come from clearing the map. It comes from managing information, sound, cover, stamina, ammunition and timing well enough to make repeated positive extractions.
The safest solo rhythm is deliberate: enter with a cheap learning kit, identify an exit before chasing valuable containers, select objectives that share a route, fight only when a fight improves your odds, and leave as soon as the haul meets your goal. A squad can recover from a mistake by splitting attention or reviving a teammate; a solo player usually cannot.

What solo play in ARC Raiders actually means
ARC Raiders is an extraction adventure rather than a conventional match in which the objective is to eliminate everyone. The surface combines two kinds of danger: lethal ARC machines and rival Raiders who may attack, ignore or use you as an opportunity. You enter with equipment, search buildings and caches, manage threats, and decide when to call extraction. Items you successfully carry out are the reward; items left behind, or a kit lost during a failed run, are part of the risk.
The official game site describes lone-ranger play on PC, PlayStation and Xbox while keeping both machine and player threats in the same world. That means “solo” is a team size, not a private PvE ruleset. Unless a live event explicitly changes the rules, assume that another player can hear your shots, contest a container or arrive at an extraction pad while you are waiting.

A useful solo objective is a repeatable positive extraction: leave with enough useful material, completed progress or information to justify the risk. Trying to clear every camp or fill every inventory slot creates noise, consumes resources and keeps you exposed after the run is already successful.
Why solo runs are harder than squad runs
Solo and squad play use the same surface, but the decisions are not interchangeable. A squad can divide observation, hold several angles and alternate who attracts attention. A solo player must do all of that while carrying the only healing, ammunition and escape plan.
| Decision factor | Solo implication | Squad implication |
|---|---|---|
| Information burden | You must listen, scan and remember likely routes while moving and looting. | Teammates can watch different approaches and report contacts. |
| Margin for error | A missed sound cue, bad reload or fall into a crossfire can end the run immediately. | A teammate may cover a retreat, draw attention or recover from the first mistake. |
| Aggro management | Pulling a machine or Raider often means handling the entire problem yourself. | Players can split machine attention or pressure an opponent from another angle. |
| Route speed | Short, cover-rich routes are safer than long detours for scattered objectives. | Groups can move faster through contested areas and share security duties. |
| Loot risk | Every extra container costs time, stamina, noise and exposure for one carrier. | More carrying capacity and overlapping roles can make a longer stay worthwhile. |
| Extraction posture | Approach late, preserve a fallback and board only when you can briefly defend or disengage. | One player can watch while another starts the countdown, with more ability to hold an area. |
This difference is why aggressive squad habits often fail when copied by a solo player. You are not trying to prove that you can win a fair duel; you are trying to make the next decision from a position that still allows escape.

Start with a cheap learning kit
The current beginner guidance recommends using a Free Loadout or another inexpensive kit while learning. This is not a declaration that free equipment is optimal for every mission. It is a way to keep experimentation affordable while you learn map landmarks, machine behavior, extraction locations and the amount of noise your route creates.
Move to more expensive equipment only after you can extract basic supplies consistently. A costly kit does not compensate for an unknown route or a poor exit decision; it increases the emotional and material cost of the same mistake.
Carry the survival minimum
Before launching, reserve space for salvage instead of filling every slot with speculative gear. A practical solo loadout contains:
- A primary weapon for ordinary contacts.
- A close-range backup for a room entry or emergency push.
- Enough ammunition for the objectives you selected, with a reserve for the extraction approach.
- Healing, including Trauma Foam as an example of the survival equipment listed in the beginner guide.
- At least one utility item. Arc Flare and Signal Booster are examples of tactical or extraction-support tools cited in beginner advice.
These examples are not a mandatory universal build. The correct amount depends on the route, the objective and your confidence. The important principle is to preserve a way to heal, break contact or support extraction while keeping room for items that justify the deployment.
Choose overlapping objectives
Pick one or two tasks that can be completed along the same corridor of the map. A route that visits several nearby locations lets you turn back when the area becomes dangerous. Scattered objectives force long crossings that consume stamina, ammunition and time and create more opportunities for another player to hear or intercept you.

Write down the order mentally before leaving the starting area: first objective, optional stop, primary extraction, backup extraction. If the first objective becomes contested, skip it rather than allowing the original plan to dictate the entire run.
Plan the exit before opening high-value containers
Extraction pads can rotate between deployments, so confirm the active location on the current map. Identify a primary route and a fallback route before opening a high-value container. Your fallback does not need to be the closest pad; it needs to be reachable after a fight, machine alert or blocked doorway.
Think in terms of cover and line of sight, not just map distance. A slightly longer route through small structures, terrain folds or vertical escape options can be safer than a straight run across an exposed complex.
Use the opening minute to gather information
Do not sprint immediately toward the highest-tier area. Start under cover and listen. The first minute is an information investment: note gunfire, machine activity, movement through nearby structures and the routes other Raiders appear to favor. You are learning where attention is already concentrated before committing your limited resources.
Move where you can disappear
Peripheral camps, small structures and routes with vertical escape options are generally more forgiving for a solo player than exposed complexes and flat bottlenecks. These locations give you something to break line of sight with and more than one direction in which to leave. They may contain less concentrated value, but a modest haul that reaches extraction is worth more than a larger haul lost in an unavoidable crossfire.
Treat sound as a two-way resource
Sprinting, gunfire and machine alerts can reveal your position. Crouch movement, cover and patience reduce the information you give away, while deliberate pauses give you a chance to hear someone else first. Exact sound ranges and timing claims circulated in unofficial guides should not be treated as fixed game specifications; patches, terrain and overlapping machine noise can change what another player hears.
Use a simple sound discipline:
- Sprint only when the time saved is worth the attention created.
- Pause before crossing an open gap or entering a high-value room.
- Loot quickly once an area is quiet, then move rather than repeatedly reopening the same container.
- Keep the flashlight off unless it is needed; a visible light can make an otherwise concealed position easier to identify.
Keep an escape route in every room
Before interacting with a container, locate the doorway, window, stairwell or terrain feature that would let you break line of sight. Do not begin a long interaction with your back to the only exit. If you cannot describe where you will move when a shot or machine alert occurs, you are not ready to loot that location.

When to fight—and when to leave
A solo fight should have a reason. Engage when an enemy blocks the only safe route, carries an item required for your objective, or must be removed to make extraction possible. Avoid fighting simply because a target appeared or because the area looks valuable. Every engagement spends ammunition, healing, time and concealment.

Start from cover and preserve a retreat
Begin contact from cover rather than from the middle of a doorway or open lane. Keep a retreat path behind you, and avoid entering a room before identifying where you can break line of sight. After contact, reload and heal before moving toward new loot; a wounded, partially loaded weapon is an invitation to lose the next encounter.
If your first burst does not create an immediate advantage, reset. Smoke, terrain, a change in elevation or a hard corner can separate you from an opponent long enough to relocate. Continuing to trade shots because you have already fired is a sunk-cost mistake.
Use an ambush mindset against squads
A solo player is usually better served by an ambush or a third-party opening than by a fair frontal duel with a coordinated group. Let a squad reveal its route, engage another threat or separate before exposing yourself. The unofficial solo guidance uses a “one kill or disengage” mindset: if the opening does not quickly produce a decisive advantage, leave rather than trying to complete the fight.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsARC activity can sometimes provide a screen while you escape, but treat that as a tactical possibility, not a guaranteed mechanic. Machine noise may mask movement, or it may create a second threat that traps you. The moment the route is clear, use it to relocate instead of staying to confirm an elimination.
Handle ARC machines economically
Clear only the machine activity that blocks your route or makes extraction impossible. Heavy or elite encounters can consume ammunition, healing and time that would be better spent leaving with the items you already have. Bypassing a machine is often the stronger solo decision when your objective is extraction rather than a full clear.
Save crowd-control or EMP-style utility for a dangerous moment around the extraction countdown instead of spending it on a low-value patrol early in the run. The community beginner guidance specifically recommends preserving such utility for high-risk situations near extraction.
A practical solo extraction procedure
Extraction is a separate phase of the run, not an afterthought. Reaching the pad with a full backpack does not guarantee success if you arrive exhausted, injured or without a fallback.

- Approach through cover. Scan nearby angles and likely arrival lanes. Do not expose your route by sprinting in a straight line from the last building to the pad.
- Choose the commitment point. Start the countdown only when you can defend briefly or disengage. If the area is already contested and the haul is marginal, rotate to the backup extraction instead.
- Keep a fallback route. Stand where you can break line of sight and leave without crossing the same exposed ground. Do not let the countdown turn your position into a trap.
- Trim the pack if necessary. Abandon low-value scrap when weight, movement or inventory management is creating more risk than value. The objective is a good-enough haul, not maximum slot usage.
- Leave when the extraction succeeds. Do not turn a successful run into a new fight by remaining in the area to search one more container.
How early should you extract?
Extract when your selected objective is complete and the haul meets the reason you deployed. Leave early if you have taken damage, used most of your ammunition, lost your planned route, heard a squad converging or attracted machine activity that you cannot bypass safely. A low-value item is not worth a squad wipe, and an empty inventory slot is cheaper than a lost kit.

Solo run decision framework
Use these questions whenever the route changes:
- What do I gain? Is the next container tied to the objective, or is it only attractive because it is nearby?
- What does it cost? Estimate ammunition, healing, stamina, noise and time—not only the item’s apparent value.
- What information will I reveal? Gunfire, sprinting and a machine alert can announce your position to players who were not involved in the original contact.
- Where do I go if this turns bad? If there is no immediate break in line of sight or alternate route, postpone the interaction.
- Does this improve extraction? If the answer is no, skip it once your minimum goal is met.
This framework turns the run from a sequence of impulses into a series of reversible decisions. You can always return for a container if the route stays quiet; you cannot recover a lost kit by wishing the previous fight had been shorter.

Crossing the whole map for scattered objectives
Why it fails: Long crossings consume stamina and ammunition and expose you to more machine and player activity.
Fix: Select overlapping objectives, complete the nearest valuable one and extract if the route becomes contested.
Entering a high-tier area without an exit
Why it fails: Valuable rooms often attract attention, and a solo player can be pinned by one blocked doorway.
Fix: Identify the retreat route before interacting. If the room has no safe break in line of sight, wait, choose another container or leave.
Taking every fight
Why it fails: Even a winning fight can leave you wounded, loud and visible to a second opponent.
Fix: Fight only for a route, an objective or extraction. Reset after a failed opening instead of escalating.

The official site announced a temporary PvE matchmaking toggle scheduled for October 13–20, 2026. In the researched test description, player-to-player damage is removed, ARC threats remain, solo, duo and trio players are mixed, and PvE loot value is reduced. This makes the test useful for learning landmarks, extraction routes and machine patterns, but it is not evidence of a permanent PvE mode.
Use the toggle, while it is available and under its stated rules, as a low-pressure navigation exercise rather than as a replacement for PvPvE practice. The reduced loot value changes the economic result of a run, and the absence of player damage does not teach you how a squad will contest a live extraction. The test should therefore supplement—not replace—ordinary solo runs.
Published preference figures reported by iTechGuides in that context were 37% for friendly co-op, 27% for mixed play and 34% for pure PvP; 51% expressed interest in a dedicated PvE option. Those are reported survey figures, not an independent official statistical release. Executive Producer Aleks was quoted on September 24, 2026, saying: “This test is not a promise that there will be a PvE mode in the future.” Check the current in-game announcement and official site before relying on the toggle, because its scheduled window and rules are time-limited.
A repeatable solo routine
- Load cheaply. Use a Free Loadout or similarly inexpensive kit while learning a route.
- Pack the essentials. Bring a primary, close-range backup, ammunition, healing and one useful utility item, leaving space for salvage.
- Set a minimum goal. Choose one or two overlapping objectives and decide what haul is enough.
- Map the exits. Confirm the active extraction and a fallback before opening the first high-value container.
- Listen first. Spend the opening minute under cover identifying gunfire, machine activity and likely traffic.
- Move quietly between cover. Prefer peripheral routes and vertical escape options; sprint only when the time saved justifies the noise.
- Fight selectively. Begin from cover, preserve a retreat, and disengage if the first burst does not create an advantage.
- Bypass expensive machine fights. Clear only what blocks the route and save control utility for extraction danger.
- Extract at the goal. Recheck resources, approach under cover, start the countdown from a defensible position and leave when it completes.
Solo ARC Raiders is viable because the game rewards judgment rather than requiring a full-map clear. A cheap kit protects your learning process, sound and cover protect your position, and an early extraction protects the progress you have already earned. When every action is measured against the next safe exit, surviving PvPvE runs becomes a repeatable skill instead of a series of lucky escapes.
