The Square input is reported by Beebom’s September 22, 2026 guide; check Options > Controls if your platform or remapped layout uses a different button.
Unlock a combo finisher
- Reach 15 Aberrant Strength, the unlock threshold reported in Beebom’s finisher guide.
- Enter The Gap by holding down on the D-pad, then approach and interact with the monolith.
- Open the Combo Finishers tab and spend one Living Shard to unlock a move. Beebom says Living Shards can be earned from level bosses or bought from zone vendors for 4,000 Source.
Equip and use the move
- Open Loadout, select Combo, and choose the finisher you unlocked.
- In combat, complete the primary melee combo and press Square to trigger the equipped finisher, using the PlayStation input reported by the guide.
Choose a finisher for its attack pattern
Beebom identifies six combo finishers, each with five upgrades. Its descriptions suggest choosing by the kind of attack you want rather than assuming one move is strongest:

- Uppercut Surge: launches enemies and applies Lifted, according to the guide.
- Spin Edge: attacks nearby enemies with a continuous spin, according to the guide.
- Other options: the guide also names Concussive Beatdown, Wide Edge, Split Pivot, and Split Orbit.
These are guide descriptions, not independently tested damage comparisons. The available sources do not establish a best-in-slot finisher or controlled damage ranking. Consider the described attack pattern, the upgrades available, your preferred range, and whether you want to pressure a target, launch an enemy, or cover nearby foes.
How finishers fit the combat flow
Remedy’s official combat overview, published on PlayStation Blog on March 4, 2026, describes melee hits restoring Combat Ability resource, abilities stunning enemies and opening them to executions, and executions temporarily boosting melee damage. Remedy summarizes the loop as: “In Control Resonant, aggression fuels power.” The official overview calls these moves “executions,” while Beebom’s guide calls them “combo finishers”; the sources do not establish that the terms always mean the same mechanic or that every finisher requires a stunned target.

If Square does not trigger the finisher
Square is a PlayStation button label, not a universal keyboard or controller instruction. Remedy Support says controller inputs can be remapped and supported actions can be changed between Hold and Toggle where available. Check Options > Controls for the bindings used by your setup, then confirm that a move is assigned under Loadout > Combo.
Remedy’s accessibility and control options also include Assist Mode adjustments for enemy aggression, Perfect Dodge Window, incoming and outgoing damage, outgoing Falter, power recovery speed, and enhanced melee magnetizing. These are optional settings; the support information does not say they are required to perform finishers.
