You can pay Azure VM charges with an eligible Indian Visa or Mastercard debit card, but card-network support does not guarantee that your bank will approve a particular card or transaction. Add the card in the Azure portal under Cost Management + Billing; the exact account or billing-profile route depends on your billing agreement and permissions.
Can you use an Indian debit card for Azure?
Microsoft lists Visa and Mastercard debit cards as supported for Azure subscriptions in India. That means an Indian Mastercard debit card is an eligible card type, not that every individual card is guaranteed to work. The bank may decline it, or Azure may not accept it after its checks. Microsoft also says virtual and prepaid cards are not supported for Azure subscriptions in the listed payment-method guidance. See Microsoft’s supported payment methods by country or region.

If by “Azure VM YouTube stream” you mean paying for an Azure virtual machine used to run a YouTube stream, the steps below cover Azure billing. They do not set up a YouTube stream or determine whether a particular streaming configuration is suitable.
Add your debit card in the Azure portal
- Sign in to the Azure portal with an account that has access to the relevant billing account.
- Open Cost Management + Billing.
- Select the billing context that applies to your Azure subscription. For a Microsoft Online Subscription Program (MOSP) pay-as-you-go account, select the relevant subscription. For a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), select the relevant billing profile.
- Open Payment methods, choose the option to add a payment method, and enter the debit-card details.
- Complete the verification prompt. Microsoft says customers in India receive a one-time password when adding a new payment method.
- Save the payment method and check that it appears in the relevant billing context. If the portal blocks the change, confirm that you are using the right subscription or billing profile and have the required billing role.
For a MOSP pay-as-you-go account, the account administrator manages the payment instrument. For an MCA account, you need appropriate billing permissions. Microsoft’s instructions for adding, updating, or deleting a payment method are at Microsoft Learn.

Choose how to pay an Azure bill
| Payment route | How it works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Saved or default card | Azure uses the saved payment method for billing when supported and authorized. | India-specific payment rules can affect card storage and automatic charges; an eligible card network does not guarantee authorization. |
| One-time card payment | If automatic payment is declined, use Pay now when that option is shown for the bill. | Availability depends on the billing account and bill. Confirm that the card is accepted in the payment prompt. |
| UPI or NetBanking | Microsoft documents these as one-time payment options for eligible India billing accounts. UPI is also documented for MCA accounts. | Use an option only if it appears for your account and bill. |
Microsoft’s bill-payment guidance explains automatic and one-time payment options, including Pay now, UPI, and NetBanking: Pay your Microsoft Customer Agreement or Microsoft Online Subscription Program bill.
If Azure declines the card or payment
- You cannot add the card: Verify that it is a supported debit card rather than a virtual or prepaid card, and that you are in the correct subscription or billing profile with the necessary billing access.
- You do not receive an OTP: Check that the card details and contact information are correct, then retry. If verification still fails, contact the card issuer; Azure’s card-network eligibility does not ensure the bank will complete verification.
- The saved card is declined for an automatic charge: Check the card issuer’s decline reason and use Pay now if it is available for that bill. Consider UPI or NetBanking only if Microsoft offers it for your account and bill.
- You are unsure about a recurring charge limit: Do not assume one universal Azure limit applies to every Indian card transaction. Microsoft’s guidance discusses changing RBI rules and category-specific updates; follow the payment prompt and applicable current RBI guidance for the transaction.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube live stream running, Azure VM billing is only one part of the setup. StreamNeo is a separate cloud service that loops uploaded videos on YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
