Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo make Microsoft Edge open a chosen page when it starts on a desktop, go to Settings and more (…) > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page and choose the startup behavior. The Home button has its own page setting, so changing that alone may not change what appears when Edge launches. To revisit an individual page, use History; restoring a whole previous session is a separate feature and may vary by Edge version.
Choose what you want Edge to do
| Your goal | Where to set it |
|---|---|
| Show a chosen page when desktop Edge starts | Settings and more (…) > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page |
| Open a chosen page when you select the Home button | Configure the Home page separately in Edge’s settings |
| Set a page in Edge for Android or iOS | Menu (…) > Settings > General > Home page |
| Reopen one page you visited earlier | Settings and more (…) > History > Open history page |
| Restore all tabs and windows from a prior session | Check the startup options in your current Edge build; the exact session behavior is not established uniformly |
Make desktop Edge open a specific page at startup
- Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings, then open Start, home, and new tab page.
- Choose the startup behavior that matches your goal. Microsoft describes this settings area as the place to control what Edge displays at startup, but labels and available choices can differ by version. See Microsoft’s startup and customization guidance.
If you want a particular website rather than a default startup screen, use the page-related startup option shown in your version of Edge and enter the site’s URL if prompted. Microsoft’s support instructions do not establish one identical set of labels for every current build, so follow the wording displayed in your own settings.

Set the Home button’s page separately
The Home button is a shortcut you click while browsing; it is not the same setting as the page Edge shows when it starts. If you changed the Home page but Edge still opens to another screen at launch, return to Start, home, and new tab page and check the startup selection. Microsoft’s help covers home-page and startup customization in its Edge overview and Home button instructions.
Set a page in Edge on a phone or tablet
Microsoft documents this route for Edge on Android and iOS. The menu’s appearance can vary with app version, device, or accessibility settings.

- Open Edge and tap Menu (…).
- Tap Settings > General > Home page.
- Choose A specific page, then use the current page or enter a URL.
- Tap Save.
These steps configure the mobile Home page; mobile menu presentation may not exactly match desktop. See Microsoft’s Edge for mobile FAQ.
Reopen an individual page you visited earlier
- In Edge, select Settings and more (…).
- Choose History > Open history page.
- Find the page and select it to open it again.
History helps you revisit individual pages. It does not, by itself, restore every tab or window from a closed session. Microsoft documents the History route in its Edge troubleshooting guidance.

What if you mean the whole previous session?
If you want Edge to reopen the tabs and windows that were open when you last closed it, inspect the options under Settings > Start, home, and new tab page for a continue-where-left-off or session-restoration choice. The precise option and behavior are not established for every Edge version or organization-managed setup, so do not assume that every closed tab will always be recoverable. Use History for individual pages you need to find again.
If Edge does not open or load the page
These are troubleshooting steps, not prerequisites for changing the startup page. Try the relevant checks in order:

- Update Edge: open Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge and check for updates.
- Restart Edge and your device: close the browser, restart the device, and try again.
- Clear browsing data if pages misbehave: Microsoft says clearing browsing history and cached data can sometimes help.
- Repair Edge on Windows if needed: open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair. The Repair option may be unavailable when an organization manages the installation; contact the administrator in that case.
- Check the network or website: if the site also fails in another browser, investigate the connection or site and, where appropriate, restart the modem or router.

Two settings that sound similar but do different things
- Startup page: controls what Edge displays when you launch the browser.
- Startup boost: keeps some Edge processes running in the background to help the browser launch faster; it does not select a page. Microsoft describes availability as limited to most Windows versions, so check its current support guidance rather than assuming it is available on every device.
- Windows sign-in behavior: Windows can reopen restartable apps after sign-in. That is separate from choosing a page for Edge after you launch it; Microsoft explains the distinction in its guidance on Edge starting automatically.
- Website apps: Edge can install some websites as apps and configure an app to start at device login. That is a separate app workflow, not a requirement for setting Edge’s ordinary startup page. See Microsoft’s app instructions.
