There is no single bridge or deadline that works for every Ethereum Layer 2. First identify the network holding your NFT and determine whether the notice concerns the blockchain itself or only a marketplace or wallet service. Then use a route whose current official documentation explicitly supports that NFT and both networks involved. If no NFT-specific route is confirmed, do not assume a token bridge can move it.
Identify what is ending—and where the NFT is held
A marketplace closing does not necessarily mean the NFT must move, and a blockchain shutdown is a different, more serious event. A marketplace or wallet interface may stop operating while the NFT remains on its original chain. A chain that stops producing blocks may leave fewer options for interacting with or transferring assets. Read the notice from the project or network and identify exactly which service is ending.

Before taking action, record the NFT’s network, collection contract address, token ID, and the wallet that controls it. A marketplace listing or wallet display alone may not establish which chain holds the NFT. Verify the details using a trusted explorer or other official chain-specific source.
- Marketplace or interface closure: Check whether the NFT remains accessible through another supported marketplace or wallet. A change in viewing or trading service does not by itself prove that the NFT needs to be bridged.
- Bridge closure: Check the bridge’s final operating date separately from any blockchain shutdown date. A bridge may stop accepting transfers earlier.
- Chain shutdown: Find the network’s exact deadline and official instructions for the specific asset type. Do not assume instructions for a native token also apply to NFTs.
Confirm that an official route supports your NFT
General instructions for bridging tokens are not evidence that a bridge can transfer NFTs. Before connecting a wallet or signing a transaction, check current official documentation for all of the following:

- The source and destination networks.
- The NFT standard and, where applicable, the specific collection or contract.
- The wallet and gas asset required to complete the transfer.
- Fees, expected processing or withdrawal time, and any relevant deadline.
- How to verify the NFT on the destination network after completion.
If the documentation does not explicitly cover NFT transfers, ask the network or bridge through its official support channel. Do not infer NFT support from wording such as “all assets,” and do not sign a transaction until you understand what it does and where the NFT is supposed to arrive.
Use the network’s own notice and verified links
Start from the project’s official website or an announcement you can independently verify. Confirm the bridge URL in current official documentation, rather than following an unsolicited message or search advertisement. Ethereum.org’s guide to bridging tokens to Layer 2 outlines a general token-bridge sequence—choose the target network and bridge, connect on the relevant network, review amounts and fees, confirm in the wallet, and wait for completion—but it does not establish NFT support or a withdrawal route for a particular chain. - Open the official network announcement and record the exact deadline and the service it applies to.
- Open the network’s official bridge documentation and verify that it names NFT support for your source network, destination network, and NFT standard or collection.
- Check the required wallet, gas asset, fees, and stated processing time. Leave room for confirmations or withdrawal periods before the deadline.
- Review the transaction details in your wallet before signing. Never share a seed phrase or private key with a bridge, support agent, or website.
- After completion, verify the receiving network, wallet, contract address, and token ID in a trusted destination-chain explorer or marketplace. Keep the transaction hashes and the official instructions you followed.
What current shutdown examples do—and do not—show
Lisk Chain: a deadline, but no established NFT route
Lisk’s official announcement states, “The Lisk Chain will shut down on October 31, 2026.” It asks holders to withdraw assets by that date and directs them to bridge.lisk.com, entered directly rather than through an unsolicited link. Lisk estimates that bridging LSK takes around eight days. That estimate applies to LSK, not NFTs, and is not an NFT transfer-time estimate.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The announcement’s reference to “all assets” does not establish that the bridge supports NFT withdrawals or specify ERC-721 or ERC-1155 handling. It also describes a migration path for projects and developers to Celo; that is not evidence that individual NFT holders should send NFTs there. Lisk’s notice and the available general token-bridge guidance do not provide an NFT-specific procedure. A Lisk NFT holder should obtain current confirmation from official Lisk support and bridge documentation before signing anything.

XANA NFT: a service closure is not proof of a chain migration
XANA’s July 10, 2026 announcement says XANA NFT was discontinued effective July 30, 2026. It says eligible Ethereum and Base NFTs remain viewable and tradable on OpenSea, while eligible BSC NFTs remain viewable and tradable on Element Market. This applies to the eligible collections named by XANA; it describes marketplace continuity, not a move to another chain, and does not establish what another project should do.
Shimmer: bridge and network deadlines can differ
Shimmer’s shutdown notice says Shimmer L1 and ShimmerEVM stopped producing blocks on September 30, 2026, while LayerZero bridging ended August 29, 2026. Shimmer is not an Ethereum Layer 2, but the dates illustrate why a bridge deadline must be checked separately from a network’s final service date. Neither date provides a route for an NFT on an Ethereum Layer 2.

What to do if NFT support is not documented
Do not try a token-only bridge with an NFT just because the bridge is associated with the right network. Pause and seek written guidance from the official network or bridge support channel, supplying the chain, collection contract, token ID, and wallet address—but never your private key or recovery phrase. If support cannot confirm a supported route, do not guess at a contract call or destination. The available choices depend on the specific chain’s remaining services and official instructions.
