To limit what children can watch on Paramount+, turn on rating-based Parental Controls and set a four-digit PIN from the account page in a desktop or mobile web browser. Separately, enable Kids/Child Mode on each child’s profile for a curated experience. Kids Mode alone does not reliably prevent a child from switching profiles; keep PIN protection active if you need to restrict that.
How Paramount+ profiles and parental controls differ

These controls complement each other: Kids Mode shapes the profile experience, while rating locks gate playback and the PIN can protect against leaving that profile. Paramount+ explains that parental controls must be managed on desktop or mobile web, even though rating locks apply across supported devices and platforms. Turn on rating-based parental controls
- In a desktop or mobile web browser, go to paramountplus.com/account and sign in.
- Find Parental Controls. The feature is off by default. Turn it on and confirm your Paramount+ account password if prompted.
- Create a four-digit PIN. Keep it private from anyone whose access you want to limit.
- Use the control or lock icon beside each rating to choose which ratings to restrict. In the Help Center interface description, blue means locked and grey means unlocked; check the live account page if its labels or appearance differ.
Once a rating is locked, a title above that rating can remain visible, but playback requires the PIN. This is a playback restriction, not necessarily a way to hide every unsuitable title from view.
Set up a child profile and protect it
- Create a separate profile for the child, or open the profile you want to change.
- Enable Kids or Child Mode for that profile, then choose the age group or content-rating options shown.
- Leave Parental Controls enabled if the child should not be able to switch out of Kids Mode without authorization. With controls inactive, a child may leave the child profile without a PIN and reach content unsuitable for their age.
Paramount+ describes Kids Profiles as customizable by age group and content ratings. Its Kids Mode guidance also notes that episodes autoplay unless autoplay is disabled in web-account or app settings. Paramount+: “Kids Interstitial Modal Explainer”

Where the settings work—and regional differences
Paramount+ says the rating locks carry across supported devices on the account, while activation and deactivation happen through desktop or mobile web—not through the app or a supported TV device. Its Help Center list includes Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Comcast/Xfinity, web, Fire TV, Hisense, iOS, LG, PlayStation 4 and 5, Roku, Samsung TV, Vizio, and Xbox. This is the list in that support article, not a guarantee that every model or region currently supports the feature.
The same Help Center article notes that UK/Ireland and Australia use one account PIN for parental locking and that it can prevent Kids Profiles from being exited without PIN authorization. The exact behavior and labels can vary by region, so check the settings shown in your own account. For applicable account differences, Paramount+ says: “While parental controls are supported across devices and platforms, you’ll need to be on your desktop or mobile web in order to turn this feature on and off.”

What to check if a child can still reach restricted content
- Check that the PIN controls are active. A child profile without active parental controls may be exited without the PIN.
- Review the locked ratings. A rating lock gates playback only for titles above ratings you selected; it does not necessarily hide titles from the profile.
- Confirm you changed the setting on the web account page. The Help Center says the app and TV device are not where you turn the feature on or off.
- Check the specific child profile. Kids/Child Mode is configured separately for each profile.
- Check autoplay separately if needed. Paramount+ identifies autoplay as a distinct setting available in web-account or app settings.
Profile limits and older launch information
Paramount’s 2020 announcement about family features said an account could have six profiles at that time. That is a historical launch figure, not confirmation of today’s profile limit; the current limit is not established by the available support information.
