What’s actually slowing this PC down?

To make a thumbnail that takes visitors from your link-in-bio page to a website, add an image to a card or page section, attach the destination URL as a hyperlink, then preview and test the published page on a phone. This in-page thumbnail is different from the image social networks may show when someone shares your link-in-bio page: that preview is drawn from page metadata and depends on the platform.
Decide which thumbnails you need
There are two separate images people may mean by “thumbnail”:

- An in-page thumbnail: a photo, logo, or graphic shown on your link-in-bio page, usually as part of a clickable card that opens a destination such as an article, shop, or portfolio.
- A social share preview: the title, image, and description a service may display when someone shares the URL of your link-in-bio page. This is generally selected using page metadata, not by choosing an image card inside the page.
Make the in-page cards first if your goal is to help visitors navigate from your bio page. If you also want a consistent preview when the page itself is shared, configure its metadata separately. Canva describes a link-in-bio workflow for adding visuals and hyperlinks; LinkedIn documents metadata requirements for LinkedIn previews. Canva’s link-in-bio tool and LinkedIn’s sharing guidance cover those distinct parts.
Plan the cards before you design them
- Choose each destination. List the pages you want visitors to open: for example, a portfolio, featured article, shop, or booking page.
- Write a short label for each destination. Use recognizable wording such as “View my portfolio” rather than relying on an image to explain the link. A clear label also helps visitors understand what will open.
- Select an image for each card. Use a relevant photo, logo, or graphic that you have permission to use. Canva’s feature page describes adding photos, logos, graphics, and images from its media library.
- Keep the visual system consistent. Use a coherent style and make sure the image supports—not obscures—the destination label. Check that important text within an image will remain legible at phone size.
Create and link the thumbnails in a page builder
The exact controls vary by builder, but the workflow is the same: choose a layout, add the image and label, connect the card or image to the destination URL, then preview it before publishing. Do not assume that placing an image on a page automatically makes it clickable.

Canva workflow
- Open Canva and search for “Link in bio” or “Bio link.”
- Choose a link-in-bio template, then customize its text, photos, and graphics.
- Add the destination URL as a hyperlink. Canva documents highlighting text and using the hyperlink control to enter a destination. If the editor offers a separate image-link control, use it to make the whole thumbnail clickable; otherwise, link the text or button and make that interaction clear.
- Preview the page in desktop, mobile, and tablet views. Check the card labels, image cropping, spacing, and tap targets, especially on a phone.
- Publish the page and test each link on the live version. Canva describes publishing on a free Canva domain and, for Pro users, using or linking a custom domain. Check Canva’s current plan details before relying on a particular domain option.
Canva’s documented sequence and capabilities are described on its link-in-bio feature page. Other builders may use different control names, so verify the actual link behavior in the editor you use.
Make sure the cards work on phones
A link-in-bio page is often opened from a phone, so preview the actual narrow layout rather than judging the design only on a desktop. Canva documents previews for mobile, tablet, and desktop. In each view, check that:
Rank #2
- the destination label is easy to scan and is not embedded only in a small image;
- each thumbnail is visibly associated with the right label and destination;
- the image or its adjacent button is an obvious, usable tap target;
- cards do not crowd one another or push important links too far down the page; and
- the page remains understandable if images load slowly or are not displayed.
Then open the published URL on a phone and tap every card. Confirm that each one opens the intended destination rather than a preview, editor, or incorrect page.

If you mean the thumbnail shown when someone shares your link-in-bio page, set the page’s social metadata separately from its in-page cards. LinkedIn says websites should use the Open Graph Protocol and lists og:title, og:image, og:description, and og:url among the relevant tags. Whether you can set these fields depends on the page builder and plan; check its settings or documentation.

LinkedIn’s help page lists a minimum image size of 1200 × 627 pixels and accepts JPG, PNG, or GIF; it also says images less than 401 pixels wide display as a thumbnail. These are LinkedIn-specific specifications, not universal requirements for all social platforms or link-in-bio builders. The page was marked as last updated two years before its retrieval on 2026-10-03, so check LinkedIn’s current guidance before preparing an image to those dimensions. Frequently Asked Questions
Does adding a thumbnail image automatically make it clickable?
Not necessarily. Check whether your page builder links the image or card itself; if it does not, add a clear linked label or button.
Can the same image appear both on my link-in-bio page and in a LinkedIn share preview?
Yes, if your builder lets you use that image for the page’s Open Graph metadata, but the in-page card image and social preview are configured separately.
What image size should I use for every social preview?
There is no universal size established here. The 1200 × 627 minimum listed in LinkedIn’s help is LinkedIn-specific; check each platform’s current requirements.
