To show incoming calls in a full-screen interface instead of a banner, go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Incoming Calls and select Full Screen. On some iOS versions, Phone appears directly in Settings. This setting changes the call layout; it does not guarantee that a caller’s photo fills the display.
Switch incoming calls from a banner to full screen
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Phone. On some iOS versions, tap Phone directly in Settings.
- Tap Incoming Calls.
- Select Full Screen.
Apple’s current settings documentation places Phone under Settings > Apps, but the menu path can differ on older releases. The Full Screen option changes how the incoming-call interface is presented, rather than controlling the size of a contact photo. See the Apple guide to changing Phone settings and the Apple Support Community explanation of the Full Screen option.
Why the caller’s picture may not fill the screen
The Full Screen control changes the call layout. It does not force every caller’s picture or Contact Poster to appear edge to edge. Caller identity information can come from contacts, carrier directories, Business Call Identification, and caller-identification apps, so the information shown can vary by caller and configuration. Apple’s reviewed support material does not promise a uniform full-screen photo for every call.

Set up your own photo or Contact Poster
If you want your image to appear when you call someone, edit your own contact card:
- Open Contacts and tap My Card.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap the contact photo, then choose and customize a photo and poster. Apple says a Contact Poster can use a photo, Memoji, or emoji.
- Review Name & Photo Sharing to choose how to share the updated image. Apple documents Contacts Only and Always Ask options.
Apple describes Contact Posters as appearing on the screen of the person you call; they are your outgoing identity, not a setting that controls the incoming-call layout on your iPhone. Follow Apple’s instructions for setting up your Contact Poster and sharing your name and photo. Apple’s feature description is: “When you make a phone call, your call poster appears on the screen of the person you’re calling.” For more on the feature, see Make your iPhone your own.
