You can replace Breeno with Gemini only if your specific phone, region, and software build let you choose Gemini as the default digital assistant. Installing the Gemini app alone does not change which assistant opens from a button or gesture.
First, check whether your phone supports the switch
Google’s setup instructions apply only when Gemini is available for your device, account, language, and country or territory. You also need to be signed in to a Google Account with access to Gemini. Google notes that availability and setup can vary by device: Gemini mobile app availability and setup.

For an OPPO phone, check the exact model, market or region, ColorOS version, and Android version. OPPO announced Gemini on select ColorOS 15 devices, including the Find X8 Series global launch; that announcement does not establish that every China-market phone running Breeno can use Gemini as its system assistant: OPPO’s ColorOS 15 and Gemini announcement.

Set Gemini as the default digital assistant
- Install or open Gemini. Use the Gemini app if it is available for your device and account. Having the app installed does not by itself make Gemini the system assistant.
- Check the default assist app. Open
Settings > Apps > Default apps > Digital assistant app. Select the Google app if it is offered. Android menu names and locations vary by manufacturer and software version. - Choose Gemini in Google’s assistant settings. In the Google app, open its settings, choose
Google Assistant > Digital assistants from Google, then select Gemini if it appears. Some phones expose this choice underSettings > Apps > Assistant > Digital assistants from Google. Follow the choices shown on your phone; these paths are not universal. - Test the activation method you want to use. Try the power-button gesture, voice activation, or other control only if your phone offers it. Google says gesture steps vary; if needed, search Settings for “power,” “side button,” or “gesture.” See Google’s instructions for managing Gemini on Android.
If Gemini does not appear in the choices
If Gemini or the Google app is missing from the digital-assistant options, the app may still be usable on its own, but the available official guidance does not confirm a universal way to replace Breeno on China-market OPPO phones. Google says device and location availability varies, and OPPO’s published ColorOS 15 announcement covers select devices rather than every regional model.

- Confirm the exact phone model, sales region or ROM, ColorOS version, and Android version.
- Check current support guidance for that exact combination before assuming a setting is supported. An OPPO support page describes activating Google Assistant, but it does not document Gemini replacing Breeno: OPPO’s Google Assistant activation guidance.
- Do not treat button-mapper apps, community workarounds, or debloating instructions as verified official procedures. Avoid deleting system packages or modifying firmware as a routine fix. OPPO warns generally that some pre-installed apps cannot be fully removed and that changing system software can corrupt a phone; this is not a Breeno-specific compatibility ruling: OPPO guidance on pre-installed apps.
If you need a definitive answer, use the exact model and software-build details when checking with OPPO or Google support. The available official documentation does not establish whether every Chinese-market model and ColorOS build permits Gemini as the default assistant.
