Start with the barrier that matters: reading the result, telling dice apart, picking them up, or reading by touch. Large, high-contrast numerals are a sensible first option when standard polyhedral dice are hard to read, but no single set works for everyone. Ask the player what they want to change, then try the options below together.
Choose dice that are easy to read
For visual legibility, look for large numerals with strong contrast against the die face. The University of Western Ontario-hosted Roll for Initiative accessibility recommendations specifically suggest large, high-contrast dice for players who find standard polyhedral dice difficult to read. Prefer clear, uncluttered numbering over ornate fonts or busy face designs when quick identification is important; that is a practical choice, not a result established by comparative testing.

Color can also help distinguish one die shape from another, but it should support rather than replace readable numbers. Color preferences and color vision vary, so ask the player whether a particular palette helps. Better ambient lighting and a less visually cluttered table can complement clearer dice. The 2024 D&D Basic Rules advise groups to consider accessibility needs and note that some players have difficulty with low light.

Reading and handling are separate challenges. If a player has limited fine motor control, an arch-style d4 is one design option to try. If picking up dice is difficult, consider rolling them within easy reach or trying a tray with raised sides to contain the roll. A tray is an experiment, not a proven accessibility fix; ask the player whether it helps.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Think about whether the player can identify the result without lifting or repositioning the die, whether the edges and orientation cues are comfortable to use, and whether the die shapes are easy to distinguish. A setup that solves one problem may not solve another.
Consider tactile or digital rolling
Braille dice
For someone who reads Braille and wants tactile results, Die Hard Dice’s DOTS Braille RPG set is a specialist option. The product page describes a slightly oversized, seven-piece acrylic set with a consistent single Braille cell on each face, raised face borders, orientation features, and a sighted Braille reference guide. It has no engraved numerals. Check the exact design and guide with the player; Braille familiarity, color preferences, and tactile preferences differ.

Digital rollers
If physical dice remain difficult to read or handle, an app or digital roller on a smartphone, tablet, or computer is a valid alternative. A player can also combine digital and physical dice according to the situation. The useful choice is the method that lets them roll and read results comfortably and independently, if that is their preference.

D&D Beyond Senior Content Specialist and DAA Champion of Accessibility Advocacy and Education Bailey Vaughan said the team recognized that “the disability community is extremely diverse” and that it could not make a set addressing every barrier. The announcement frames the project as an example of small design adjustments, rather than a universal solution.
Sirius Dice’s product page displayed the set at $19.99 and marked it “Unavailable,” describing it as a preorder that would ship once available when accessed October 3, 2026. Price and availability can change; check the live Sirius Dice listing for current terms. The D&D Beyond announcement also says $10 from each purchase goes to the American Association of People with Disabilities; confirm the live terms if that donation affects your decision.

Pick an option by the barrier it addresses
| If the main difficulty is… | Try… | Check with the player… |
|---|---|---|
| Reading small or decorative numerals | Large, high-contrast numerals and clear, uncluttered faces | Are the numbers legible under the table’s lighting? |
| Identifying which die is which | Clearly different shapes; color as a secondary cue | Do the colors help, and are they distinguishable for this player? |
| Picking up or manipulating dice | An arch-style d4, a roll within reach, or a tray to try | Can the player roll and retrieve dice comfortably? |
| Reading results by touch | Braille dice designed for tactile reading | Does the player read Braille and prefer this tactile design? |
| Using physical dice at all | A digital roller on a phone, tablet, or computer | Is the interface comfortable, and does it suit the way the player wants to participate? |
Make the table part of the solution
- Ask the player what specifically gets in the way instead of assuming a diagnosis or preferred accommodation.
- Let them choose and test the dice, lighting, rolling location, and any tray or digital tool.
- Keep dice within comfortable sight and reach, and adjust seating or table space when needed.
- Offer help without taking over; preferences about independence and assistance are individual.
