To make a Crazy Craft 3 server, pin every installation to Crazy Craft 3.0.3 for Minecraft 1.7.10, run the server with 64-bit Java 8, and use the matching server files from the same distribution as the clients. Create the server in its own folder, run its installer or start script once, accept the EULA, configure server.properties, and only then make it reachable to friends.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
This is a demanding legacy modpack. Related 1.7.10 Crazy Minecraft guidance recommends a high-end computer with more than 8 GB of system RAM, while a documented Java 8 launch example assigns a 4,096 MB heap. Those figures are practical guidance, not a guaranteed minimum for every world, player count, or hosting arrangement.

Use the exact Crazy Craft 3 version
Compatibility starts with the pack identity. The official VoidLauncher catalog lists Crazy Craft 3.0 [official], version 3.0.3, targeting Minecraft 1.7.10, with multiplayer support and 61 mods. The server and every client must use that same combination. A server running another release, a client on a different Minecraft version, or a partially different mod directory can fail during login even when the world itself is healthy.
VoidLauncher describes itself as a custom mod-pack launcher made by Rich1051414 for TheAtlanticCraft packs and for public-server, recording, or single-player use. Technic’s documented installation flow is an alternative: install Technic Launcher, search for Crazy Craft 3 Official, select the pack, and click Install. Its listing also targets Minecraft 1.7.10.
#1 Best Overall
- DELUXE COLLECTION — Includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, three Bedrock add-ons, three exclusive Character Creator items, and 700 Minecoins.
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.

- Keep the same 61-mod pack on the server and on every player’s computer.
- Do not copy individual mods from another release to “fix” a mismatch; obtain a complete matching package instead.
Check the computer and Java before installing
Java requirement
Minecraft 1.7.10 is a Java 8-era release. A Minecraft Forum troubleshooting response states that 1.7.10 requires Java 8 when a newer Java runtime is being used. Install a 64-bit Java 8 distribution for the server and verify the runtime that the server process will actually call:
java -version
The output should identify Java 8 (often shown as version 1.8). If the command reports Java 17, 21, or another newer release, installing Java 8 is not enough by itself: change the server script or call the Java 8 executable by its full path.
Memory and processor headroom
VoidWrath describes its related 1.7.10 Crazy Minecraft pack as a very rough mod pack to run, recommends a high-end PC, and advises more than 8 GB of RAM. That is publisher guidance from 2018, not a universal minimum for every Crazy Craft 3 server. The operating system, the Minecraft client, and other applications need memory as well, so do not assign all installed RAM to the server.
| Resource | Practical starting point | What the evidence means |
|---|---|---|
| Java | 64-bit Java 8 | Required for this legacy 1.7.10 server process; verify the executable used by the start command. |
| System RAM | More than 8 GB is sensible for a demanding setup | VoidWrath’s related-pack recommendation, not a tested minimum for every map or player count. |
| Server heap | Start around 4,096 MB when the machine has adequate spare RAM | A Minecraft Forum example uses -Xmx4096M; increase only after observing real memory pressure. |
| Storage | A dedicated folder on a drive with free space for the world and backups | The supplied material does not establish a fixed disk-size requirement. |
Choose where the server will run
Self-hosting from a home computer
Self-hosting gives you direct control over Java 8, the exact server files, configuration, backups, and modpack version. The computer must remain on while friends play, and your router and firewall must permit inbound traffic. Upload speed, carrier-grade NAT, changing public addresses, and a sleeping or overloaded computer can make a technically correct server unreachable.
Using a managed game host
A managed host can provide a persistent machine, backup tools, a control panel, and network reachability, but you must confirm that it allows custom 1.7.10 files and gives you enough RAM. Before paying, check these items rather than assuming a generic Minecraft plan supports this pack:

- Java 8 selection or a way to launch a custom Java executable.
- Permission to upload the complete Crazy Craft 3.0.3 server package.
- Enough guaranteed memory for the number of players and your chosen view distance.
- Support for the port and network configuration shown by the host.
- Automated and downloadable backups.
- Version pinning so an update does not replace 3.0.3 files.
- A clear recurring price and cancellation policy.
No single provider is identified as an officially preferred host. The right choice depends on whether you value local control or an always-on machine more.
Install the client pack first
- Install VoidLauncher, or install Technic Launcher if you are using Technic’s distribution.
- In Technic, search for Crazy Craft 3 Official, select the listing that targets Minecraft 1.7.10, and click Install. In VoidLauncher, select the official Crazy Craft 3 listing and confirm that it reports version 3.0.3.
- Launch the pack once on the computer that will play. This creates the client-side folders and confirms that Java and graphics drivers can load the 61-mod set.
- Have each friend perform the same installation. Do not send a jar or a handful of mods from your server as a substitute for the complete pack.
If the launcher shows a different Minecraft version or pack revision, stop and correct it before creating a world. A client that starts in single-player is not proof that it can join a server with different files.
Obtain and prepare the matching server files
Use the server package that accompanies the same trusted Crazy Craft 3.0.3 distribution or the package supplied by your chosen host. There is no universally specified server-download URL in the available documentation, and filenames vary between packages. Do not assume that a file named similarly to crazycraft3.jar belongs to the correct release.
- Create a new folder dedicated to the server, such as
CrazyCraft3-Server. Keeping it separate from the launcher’s client folder prevents accidental overwrites. - Unpack the supplied server archive into that folder. Preserve subfolders, libraries, configuration files, and scripts exactly as delivered.
- Read the package’s instructions and run its installer or start script once. The first run commonly generates
eula.txt,server.properties, world folders, and additional configuration files. - If startup stops with an EULA message, open
eula.txt, read the linked Minecraft terms, and change the acceptance entry to the required affirmative value only if you agree. Start the server again. - Keep a copy of the untouched server archive. It provides a recovery point if a mod, configuration edit, or failed update damages the live folder.
Start Crazy Craft 3 with Java 8
Windows command
A documented troubleshooting example invokes a Java 8 executable directly and assigns a 4,096 MB maximum heap:
"C:Program FilesZuluzulu-8-jrebinjavaw.exe" -Xmx4096M -jar crazycraft3.jar
Use this as a pattern, not a promise that your files have the same path or jar name. Replace the executable path with the Java 8 installation on your machine and replace crazycraft3.jar with the actual server jar supplied in your package. Run the command from the server folder, or specify the full path to the jar.

Other operating systems
On Linux or macOS, first make sure the java command resolves to Java 8, then launch the jar from its folder:
java -version
java -Xmx4096M -jar crazycraft3.jar
If java -version is newer than 8, call the Java 8 binary explicitly instead of relying on the system PATH. A script is useful once the command works: it gives you one repeatable launch method and keeps the heap setting visible for future troubleshooting.
Choose the heap conservatively
-Xmx4096M sets the maximum heap to 4,096 MB; it does not reserve every byte of that amount immediately. Leave room for the operating system, the client if you are playing on the same machine, Java overhead, and other applications. If the server crashes with out-of-memory errors and the machine still has substantial free RAM, raise the heap in measured steps. If the whole computer starts swapping or becomes unresponsive, lower the heap and reduce the workload instead.
Configure the server before opening it to friends
Stop the server cleanly before editing configuration files, then open server.properties in a plain-text editor. Labels can vary slightly by package, but these settings are the important first decisions:
| Setting | What to decide | Safe practice |
|---|---|---|
server-name or the package’s server-name field |
How the server is identified to players | Use a private, recognizable name rather than exposing personal information. |
difficulty |
Enemy and survival difficulty | Choose before inviting players so the world’s rules match expectations. |
white-list |
Whether only approved usernames can join | Enable it for a private friend group and add players through the server console. |
server-port |
The TCP port clients must reach | Keep the package’s default unless your host or network requires another value; record the final value for firewall and router rules. |
motd |
The short message shown in the multiplayer list | Tell players which pack and version the server uses. |
view-distance |
How many chunks the server sends around each player | Start modestly for a heavily modded server and increase only after performance is stable. |
Do not expose the server while you are still changing several variables. Start it locally, join from the same computer, create a test world, and watch the console for repeated errors before inviting anyone.

- Play with up to four friends or brave the dungeons alone. Battle new-and-nasty mobs across action-packed, wildly varied levels, in a quest to defeat the evil Arch-Illager!
Let friends connect
Testing on the host computer
- Start the server with Java 8 and wait until the console reports that it has finished loading and is accepting commands.
- Launch Crazy Craft 3.0.3 on the host computer.
- Use the multiplayer screen and connect to the local address offered by the server package or operating system. A local test proves that the server files and client pack can communicate without involving the router.
- Join the test world, move through several areas, and watch for crashes, missing textures, or recurring mod errors.
Testing from a second device
Use another computer on the same network first. Enter the host computer’s local network address and the configured server port. If this fails, check the host firewall and confirm that the server is listening on the intended interface. Do not troubleshoot public internet forwarding until a second local device can connect.
Opening access outside the home
For friends on another network, configure the host operating system’s firewall and the router’s port-forwarding rule according to their documentation. The rule must send the selected port to the computer running the server, and the value must match server.properties. The exact address, port, and forwarding screens depend on the router, host, internet provider, and whether the connection uses carrier-grade NAT; the supplied sources do not establish one universal recipe.
- Allow the server application or selected port through the host firewall.
- Forward only the required game port to the server computer, not an unrestricted range.
- Give the server computer a stable local address so the forwarding rule does not point to the wrong device later.
- Test from a genuinely external network, such as a friend’s connection or a mobile hotspot.
- Share the reachable public address and port only after the external test succeeds.
If your provider blocks inbound connections or uses carrier-grade NAT, a normal router rule may never work. In that case, use a managed host or a network solution supported by your provider rather than weakening firewall security.

Make every player match the server
Ask each player to confirm the following before diagnosing a connection error:
- Crazy Craft 3.0.3 is selected in the launcher.
- Minecraft is 1.7.10.
- The launcher has installed the complete 61-mod pack rather than a manually edited collection.
- The client is using a compatible Java setup and has enough memory to load the pack.
- No extra shader, performance, or content mod has been added unless the server owner has deliberately installed the same change for everyone.
Have players close unrelated launchers and applications while testing. A client may appear to have enough memory at the menu and still fail when a mod-heavy area loads.

Tune performance without destabilizing the server
Reduce workload first
When ticks slow down or players experience severe lag, lower view distance and limit simultaneous players before increasing memory. Large exploration areas, complex machines, entities, and chunk generation can consume CPU and memory independently of the Java heap.
Observe before changing
Change one setting at a time and keep notes. If a new heap size, view distance, or mod configuration makes the server worse, revert that single change rather than replacing the whole installation. Keep the console log from a failure; repeated stack traces can identify a specific mod or world area.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep the machine available
Close browsers, recording software, launchers, and background updates on a self-hosted computer. Do not run a server on a machine that routinely sleeps, hibernates, or loses its network connection. A managed host avoids those local interruptions but still needs monitoring and backups.
Troubleshoot the common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The server exits immediately or reports Java errors | The process is using a newer Java release or the command points to a missing executable | Run java -version, install 64-bit Java 8 if needed, and call the Java 8 executable by full path. Confirm the jar filename. |
| Client and server reject each other during login | Pack, Minecraft, mod list, or Java mismatch | Compare both sides with Crazy Craft 3.0.3, Minecraft 1.7.10, and the complete 61-mod installation. Reinstall the entire pack instead of swapping individual files. |
| Out-of-memory crash or extreme lag | Too many loaded chunks, players, entities, or insufficient available RAM | Reduce view distance and concurrent players, close other applications, and increase heap only when the operating system has room. The related-pack guidance recommends more than 8 GB of system RAM. |
| Friends cannot connect, but the host can | Wrong address or port, firewall block, missing forwarding rule, or carrier-grade NAT | Confirm the server is running, test from a second local device, compare the configured port with firewall and router rules, then test from an external network. |
| Only one player fails to join | That player’s client files, Java runtime, memory, or launcher profile differ | Have the player verify the exact pack profile and reinstall it if necessary. Compare the client log with a player who can connect. |
| The world loads but crashes in one area | A damaged chunk, entity overload, or mod-specific problem | Stop the server, preserve a backup, inspect the log around the crash, and restore the affected world or remove the identified cause only after confirming the recovery plan. |
Back up and maintain the world
Stop the server cleanly before copying its world and configuration folders. Keep multiple dated backups in a location separate from the live server machine; a backup on the same disk does not protect against disk failure. Before changing mods, Java settings, or major configuration values, make a fresh backup and record what changed.
Pin the installation to 3.0.3. Do not allow a launcher or host panel to update the client or server independently, because a one-sided update can create the same mismatch as a wrong Minecraft version. When testing a change, use a copy of the world first.
Quick Recap
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
| Decision factor | Self-hosted computer | Managed host |
|---|---|---|
| Java 8 control | Full control over the installed executable and launch command | Depends on whether the host exposes Java 8 or accepts a custom startup command |
| Exact modpack files | Upload and preserve the complete matching package yourself | Confirm custom jar, library, and configuration uploads are permitted |
| RAM | Limited by your computer’s free memory; leave room for the OS and client | Limited by the plan’s guaranteed allocation; verify it is enough for the pack |
| Network reachability | Requires firewall, router, stable local addressing, and an internet connection that accepts inbound traffic | Usually provides a public endpoint, but port and firewall controls still vary |
| Backups | You must automate and store them separately | Control panels may offer scheduled backups; verify retention and downloads |
| Version pinning | You decide when files change | Check that automated updates can be disabled |
| Cost | No hosting bill, but uses your electricity, hardware, and bandwidth | Recurring charge; the supplied material does not establish a current provider or price |
Launch checklist
- Confirm the official Crazy Craft 3.0.3 profile and Minecraft 1.7.10 on the server plan and every client.
- Install 64-bit Java 8 and verify the exact executable used by the start command.
- Prepare the matching server files in a dedicated folder and run the installer or script once.
- Accept the EULA only after reading it, then configure the name, difficulty, whitelist, port, and view distance.
- Start with a conservative heap such as the documented 4,096 MB example, leaving memory for the rest of the machine.
- Test locally, then from another device on the same network, and finally from an external network.
- Back up the world before inviting players or changing files.
