YouTube does not provide a native button to turn an archived VOD into a looping live stream; the encoder sends the video as a new broadcast.
What you need before starting
- An authorized local copy of the video file, including permission for its gameplay, commentary, music, overlays, and any other included material.
- OBS Studio or another encoder that can play and send a prerecorded video file. This guide uses OBS.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming available and access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- A stable computer and internet connection for the length of the broadcast. The workflow described here depends on the encoder staying connected; it is not a guaranteed 24/7 operating setup.
OBS documents MP4 among the supported Media Source video types. The exact interface labels may vary by OBS release.

Set up the VOD loop in OBS
- Create a scene. In OBS, select or create a scene for the broadcast. Add a source using Sources → + → Media Source.
- Select the video file. In the Media Source properties, choose the local Hindi gaming commentary VOD. Use the file you have permission to broadcast.
- Enable looping. Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS restarts the file when playback finishes, so the source continues playing. See OBS’s Media Sources documentation.
- Check the scene before connecting. Confirm that the video fits the canvas and that recorded commentary and other intended audio are audible in the OBS mixer. If the VOD has multiple audio tracks or unusual encoding, test playback in OBS before scheduling a public broadcast.
Connect OBS to YouTube and go live
- Prepare a stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio → Create → Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or prepare an encoder stream, using the current Studio flow for an immediate or scheduled broadcast.
- Copy the stream URL and key. In Live Control Room, copy YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the stream key as the information that lets an encoder send its feed to your channel. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Start the encoder feed. Start streaming in OBS. Wait for YouTube’s Live Control Room preview to appear, then review the video and audio before selecting the go-live control if the Studio flow presents it.
- Check the public broadcast. Confirm the watch page is accessible and inspect the stream on a mobile device if practical. YouTube recommends checking stream access and monitoring audio and video quality.
- End the broadcast deliberately. Use the Live Control Room end-stream control and stop sending from OBS according to the flow shown in Studio.
YouTube Help explains the encoder’s role this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” Its encoder setup instructions cover the URL/key connection and preview-to-live sequence. Hindi commentary does not change the file-loop mechanism; the cited setup documentation does not specify Hindi metadata, language settings, or audience discovery.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams over 12 hours, DVR—which lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume—may be limited or unavailable. If you need a replay or DVR, plan around these limits and check the current Live Control Room settings. See Manage live stream settings.

Copyright, game footage, and monetization
Check the rights for every part of the VOD
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another copyrighted live broadcast. If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder; persistent material can lead to interruption or termination. A license does not necessarily prevent that interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and resolve permissions before broadcasting.
Gameplay permission and monetization are separate questions
Whether game footage can be monetized depends on the publisher’s commercial-use rights. YouTube says gameplay may be eligible when commentary is step-by-step, tied to the live action, and provides instructional or educational value; extended gameplay alone may not be accepted. This guidance does not guarantee monetization for a particular game, channel, or VOD. See Video game and software content.

Repeated VODs can create a channel-level policy risk
YouTube’s monetization policy identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as inauthentic content, and its reused-content guidance considers whether videos add significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Replaying a VOD on a loop may raise those issues; the policy does not say that every loop is automatically demonetized. Assess the full channel and the current YouTube channel monetization policies, which note an update dated 2025-07-15.

Troubleshoot common problems

YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend checking preview, watch-page access, and audio and video quality. There is no universal bitrate, computer specification, OBS version, or reliable 24/7 configuration established by these setup instructions; test your particular file, system, and network before depending on an extended broadcast.
