Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo loop one pre-roll video in OBS Studio, add it as a Media Source, open its properties, and enable Loop. For a rotation of clips, add them to an OBS VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. These settings repeat local media; they do not detect when a scheduled broadcast is ready or switch automatically to your live program.
Loop one pre-roll video in OBS
- In OBS, select the scene you want viewers to see while they wait.
- In the Sources dock, add a Media Source, or select an existing one and open its properties.
- Choose the local video file. OBS lists common supported formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. See the OBS Media Sources documentation for source details.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the properties. OBS documents Loop as off by default; when enabled, it plays the file again after playback completes.
Preview the scene and check that both the picture and audio are behaving as expected before relying on it during a broadcast.

Loop a playlist of pre-roll clips
- Install VLC, then in the waiting scene add a VLC Video source.
- Add the files you want to play to the source playlist in the desired order.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS describes this setting as restarting the source after it runs out of media files.
VLC Video depends on VLC being installed. OBS specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS documentation for the playlist and installation requirements.

Loop determines what happens at the end of a file. Restart playback when source becomes active determines whether playback starts over when the source becomes visible in the current scene. OBS documents the restart setting as on by default. If the pre-roll should begin from the start every time you return to the waiting scene, leave that restart option enabled; it does not replace Loop.

Connect OBS to the live destination and manage the handoff
OBS media playback and the destination’s broadcast controls are separate. For YouTube, configure the encoder with the stream’s Live server URL and stream key using YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. The OBS Loop setting controls local source playback, not YouTube scheduling.
Before going live, preview the waiting scene, check its media, and decide how you will switch to the program scene. YouTube’s live stream settings cover scheduling and trailer options, but the documented pages do not promise that an OBS clip will end or switch scenes at the exact moment a scheduled stream becomes viewer-facing. Manage the scene change and platform controls in your own workflow.
