In OBS, add the ASMR recording as a Media Source, turn on Loop in that source’s properties, and route its audio through only one path to the stream. YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback for a viewer; it does not loop the video being sent by your encoder. Test the file’s end-to-start transition and listen to a test stream before going live.
Set the loop in OBS, not on YouTube
There are two different loop controls that are easy to confuse:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- OBS Media Source → Loop: repeats the file after playback completes, so the encoder sends it again as part of the live stream. OBS describes this option as specifying whether the file plays again once playback has completed. OBS Media Sources
- YouTube’s Loop control: repeats a video or playlist for an individual viewer. It does not change what an encoder sends to a live broadcast. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube
For a long ASMR recording, use the OBS source setting. The YouTube viewer control cannot make a live stream repeat its source.
Configure the ASMR file as an OBS Media Source
- Add the file: in the scene you plan to stream, use the Sources panel’s add button and choose Media Source. Name it clearly, such as “ASMR recording,” then select the local video file in its properties. OBS documents common media formats including MP4 and MOV. Option names or their placement can vary by OBS version, so look for the property by name. OBS Media Sources
- Enable repetition: in the Media Source properties, check Loop. This is the setting that makes the file play again when it finishes.
- Use the activation option only when intended: Restart playback when source becomes active restarts the file when the source is in the current scene and visible. It is not the loop switch. For a source that should continue its normal repeat cycle, do not rely on this activation setting as a substitute for Loop. OBS Media Sources
- Check the source’s audio track and mixer: confirm the Media Source is audible in OBS and that its audio reaches the stream through the intended route. The Media Source has an audio track setting; make sure your routing sends the sound you expect.
Prevent the same audio from reaching the stream twice
A common configuration to investigate when audio sounds doubled is that the recording is reaching the output through two active paths—for example, the Media Source and desktop or application audio capture. The OBS documentation describes Media Source controls but does not establish a universal cause for duplicate audio. Treat this as a routing check, not a guaranteed diagnosis.

- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
- In the OBS audio mixer, identify the meter associated with the Media Source and any desktop or application capture source.
- If desktop or application capture is also picking up the playing file, avoid sending both that capture and the Media Source audio to the stream. Keep the intended path active and check the mixer again.
- Listen on the stream output, not only at the computer’s speakers. Local monitoring can sound different from the audio viewers receive.
Check the loop boundary before broadcasting
Looping repeats the file; it does not guarantee a seamless transition. Play the last seconds and the opening seconds back-to-back and listen for a pause, abrupt change, or overlapping sound. If the transition itself is unsuitable, revise the recording or edit the file. The available OBS and YouTube guidance does not establish a setting that guarantees a gapless ASMR loop or a specific crossfade method.
Test the stream and confirm YouTube is receiving it
- Set up the encoder connection: in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, use the stream URL and stream key provided for the broadcast in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it publicly, and replace it if it is exposed. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Run a test: use a private or unlisted test where appropriate, then listen to the stream and watch its video. YouTube recommends test streaming and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. YouTube Help: YouTube live streaming tips
- Check the start, middle, and boundary: confirm that the recording plays once, repeats at the intended point, and is not doubled on the stream. If possible, include a test long enough to reach the loop boundary.
- Go live only after reviewing the Live Control Room: check that YouTube is receiving the encoder feed and that the stream looks and sounds right before sharing it with viewers.
Confirm eligibility and rights for the ASMR recording
YouTube’s current live-streaming help says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days; it also states that streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube’s current eligibility guidance because platform rules can change. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming

Make sure you have the rights needed for every sound in the recording, including music or other third-party material. YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a stream if matched material remains. Even licensed third-party content can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. A license does not by itself guarantee that a live stream will avoid an interruption. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams · YouTube Terms of Service

| What you hear or see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The file plays once and stops | The Media Source’s Loop property | Open the source properties and enable Loop. Do not use Restart playback when source becomes active as a replacement. |
| The audio sounds doubled throughout the stream | Whether the file audio is reaching the output from both the Media Source and desktop or application capture | Keep one intended audio path to the stream and listen to the output again. The exact cause depends on the OBS routing configuration. |
| The audio changes abruptly or pauses at the repeat point | The final seconds and opening seconds of the source file | Preview the boundary and revise the source recording or edit if needed; the loop property alone does not ensure a seamless transition. |
| The local preview sounds fine, but the live feed does not | The stream output and YouTube Live Control Room, rather than only local playback | Make a test stream, monitor its audio and video, and verify OBS’s audio routing and the encoder connection. |
| YouTube interrupts or ends the stream | Third-party content matches and whether the channel has the required rights or rights-owner allowlisting | Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and address the matched material before trying again. |
Understand the 12-hour DVR limit
YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. That limit concerns a viewer’s ability to rewind, pause, or resume a live stream; it is not a limit on how long an OBS Media Source can loop. YouTube Help: DVR on live streams
