How do I log in to Sentara MyChart on the web?
- Open Sentara’s official MyChart page and choose the sign-in option. Starting from Sentara’s site helps you avoid look-alike pages and unrelated portals.
- On the Sentara account sign-in page, enter your MyChart username and password, then submit. The page also provides links to recover a forgotten username or password: Sentara account sign-in.
- If Sentara asks for an additional security code, complete that step before expecting to reach your account.
Check that the address belongs to Sentara before entering credentials. Sentara’s account terms advise checking for an HTTPS connection, but HTTPS by itself does not prove that a page is genuinely Sentara.

How do I sign in to Sentara MyChart on my phone?
- Install or open the Sentara app using the official Apple App Store or Google Play links provided on Sentara’s MyChart page or its patient guide and FAQs.
- Choose the MyChart sign-in option in the app.
- Enter the same Sentara MyChart username and password you use on the web, then follow any security-code prompt.
If the app reports a sign-in error, Sentara recommends checking that the app is current and that you are using current credentials. Use the app’s Forgot Password route if you need to reset your password.
What if I forgot my Sentara MyChart username or password?
Use the recovery links on the official sign-in page. Sentara’s recovery process uses the account details it has on file; do not post those details in comments or send them to an unaffiliated person.

Forgot username
Select Forgot Username and provide the requested identity details that match your account. Sentara emails the username to the address on file. The username is permanent and cannot be changed.
Forgot password
Select Forgot Password and provide your username and date of birth as requested. Sentara sends a password-reset link to the email address on file. If the message does not appear, check spam or junk; Sentara says delivery can sometimes take an hour or more.

Why is Sentara MyChart asking for a code?
Sentara may use multi-factor authentication (MFA) as an extra sign-in check. After you enter your username and password, it sends a passcode to the email address or phone number selected for your account. Enter that code in the prompt. If it has not arrived, wait a few minutes and check spam or junk.

Sentara’s FAQ currently says an MFA passcode is valid for 10 minutes and a trusted-device choice lasts 30 days. It also says changes to phone or email contact details may take up to 24 hours before they can be used for MFA. These are changeable account settings, so check Sentara’s current FAQ if a code or device prompt behaves differently.

What if I have never activated a Sentara MyChart account?
Account creation is different from fixing a failed login. If you recently had an appointment, Sentara says you may receive an instant activation email or text. If you do not have an activation code, use the sign-up-without-a-code option and complete identity verification through Sentara’s sign-up page.
Sentara says a no-code account request may take up to a week to process and verify; after that, it sends an activation code and instructions. Do not assume a new account will be available immediately.

How do I troubleshoot a MyChart page that will not load or keeps asking me to log in?
Sentara’s browser help suggests these checks for web access problems. They are troubleshooting suggestions, not guaranteed fixes:
- Try another browser or restart your computer.
- Refresh the page; Sentara’s desktop instructions specify Ctrl+F5 for a forced refresh.
- Clear the browser cache and make sure cookies and pop-ups are allowed.
- Remove old MyChart bookmarks or favorites, then return to the portal from Sentara’s website.
Sentara’s browser-help page does not provide browser support. For trouble within the app, first check for an app update and confirm that your credentials are current.

For login or account-access problems, call Sentara MyChart Support at 1-833-351-4357, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Sentara says account-access requests submitted through its general online form will be directed to call for security reasons. For technical problems that do not involve account access, the MyChart FAQ points to an online support form.
