To lock a supported Samsung Galaxy Watch, open Settings > Security and privacy > Lock type, choose PIN or Pattern, and follow the setup prompts. Samsung says the screen lock engages automatically when you remove the watch or restart it. If the watch is missing, you can try locking it remotely in Galaxy Wearable—but only if remote connection is enabled.
Set a PIN or pattern on the watch
On supported models, open Settings > Security and privacy > Lock type. Choose PIN or Pattern and follow the watch’s prompts. Samsung’s regional instructions and labels can vary by model and software version; if the menu differs, check the instructions for your exact watch. Choose PIN or Pattern
- PIN: Tap Set PIN, enter at least four digits, tap the arrow, then enter the PIN again to confirm. Samsung’s Singapore guide says consecutive or repeated numbers are not allowed.
- Pattern: Connect at least four dots to create the pattern, then follow the prompts to confirm it.
- None: Removes the screen lock rather than securing the watch.

Lock a lost watch remotely
If you can’t reach the watch, use the Galaxy Wearable app on its connected phone: open Find my watch > Set security > Lock watch. Samsung says remote controls are available only when remote connection is enabled. Depending on your phone and region, the finding flow may open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find instead. Do not assume a remote lock will succeed if the watch cannot connect or remote connection was not enabled beforehand. Samsung’s general guidance for finding phones and tablets also lists power, network, Samsung account, and remote-control conditions, but those are not a watch-specific guarantee. Screen lock and remote lock: which should you use?

If you forgot the PIN or pattern
Samsung’s stated remedy for a forgotten watch PIN or pattern is to reset the watch; its guidance does not offer a data-preserving bypass. Back up through Galaxy Wearable first if you can, because a reset returns the watch to default settings and may erase data. Follow Samsung’s instructions for your exact model, then reconnect the watch through Galaxy Wearable and check for software updates. Samsung’s forgotten-watch-password guidance covers local and remote reset options. If the reset cannot be completed, contact Samsung support for model-specific help.

Check Samsung Wallet separately
A remote screen lock may not secure payment access. Samsung warns that on some watch models, the remote option labeled Lock locks the watch screen but does not lock Samsung Wallet.
