Lock an app on your Samsung TV
Choose the route for your TV’s model year. Samsung notes that menu names and availability can vary by model and region; its Australia guide says the steps are based on a 2025 TV.

These model-year paths are from Samsung Australia’s app and channel locking guide. Samsung’s US support instructions give the general app route as Apps > Settings, then select an app and choose Lock/Unlock. If your menus do not match, look under Apps or Parental Settings for the lock control.

Lock broadcast channels received by the TV
Some Samsung TVs have two channel-lock controls: selecting and locking channels, then enabling the channel lock feature. Follow the route matching your model year.

The steps are listed in Samsung Australia’s guide. Samsung Singapore likewise describes enabling Apply Channel Lock, selecting channels in Channel Lock Settings, locking them with the PIN, and saving the channel edits; the feature depends on the model: Samsung Singapore channel-lock instructions.
Check or change the TV PIN
Samsung’s US support guide lists 0000 as the default PIN and recommends changing it so it is harder for a child to guess. Its listed change path is Settings > General > System Manager > Change PIN. Regional defaults can differ: Samsung Germany says the default is 1111 for televisions sold in France and Italy. If you changed the PIN and have forgotten it, use Samsung support instructions for your exact model and region. Do not assume a factory default will still work.

What the TV’s locks can and cannot control
- Channels received directly by the TV: The channel lock is intended for supported channels the TV tunes, such as terrestrial or satellite channels.
- Channels from a cable or satellite box: The TV cannot apply its channel lock to channels delivered by external equipment. Use the set-top box or service provider’s parental controls instead. See Samsung’s explanation of channel-lock limits.
- Streaming accounts and other devices: The TV’s lock feature should not be treated as a lock on every service profile, HDMI input, or connected device. Set parental controls within the streaming service or external device where needed; Samsung’s US support page lists separate options for services including Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and HBO Max.
If an option is missing, first check whether the TV model supports that lock and whether your region’s menu uses a different label. Samsung’s Australia and Singapore guidance both note that steps or availability can vary by model.
