There are two different ways to leave Samsung’s One UI beta. If you enrolled but never installed a beta build, withdraw in Samsung Members and your phone or tablet stays on its current official software. If a beta build is already installed, Samsung’s documented route is to withdraw first, then use Smart Switch on a computer and choose Downgrade. That rollback resets the device, so protect your data before starting.
Choose the right path for your device
Your next step depends on whether beta software is actually installed, not merely whether your Samsung account is enrolled.

This distinction prevents a common mistake: withdrawing your enrollment and assuming the installed beta has already been removed. Withdrawal changes your participation status. It does not, by itself, replace software already on the phone.
The published rollback instructions apply to Galaxy phones and tablets described in Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ. Do not assume the same Smart Switch procedure applies to a Galaxy Watch or another device category. A watch-specific issue should go through the support path for that product.

Before you begin: protect data and check the requirements
Plan for a full reset. Samsung’s wording is explicit: “The rollback resets the device and removes data generated during beta testing.” Treat the operation like a factory reset even if you expect to restore most of your content afterward.
Make a current computer backup
Samsung recommends using Smart Switch to back up device data to a computer before participating in the beta. Make a fresh backup immediately before rollback, because anything created or changed since the earlier backup may otherwise be lost.
- Install the current Smart Switch PC application on a Windows PC or Mac.
- Use a USB cable that supports data transfer, not only charging. Samsung recommends the cable supplied with the device.
- Keep enough free storage on the computer for the backup.
- Open the backup in Smart Switch and let it finish before beginning the downgrade.
- Record anything you cannot easily recreate, such as two-factor authentication recovery codes, locally stored files, or settings in apps that do not support cloud backup.
- Check that photos, videos, documents and downloads stored only on the device are included in the backup or copied separately.
- Make sure you can sign back in to the Google and Samsung accounts used on the device after the reset.
A Smart Switch computer backup can be restored after the rollback, but Samsung does not promise that every app, setting, account state, or beta-generated item will return exactly as it was. Some apps keep their own cloud backup, while others store data locally or restrict restoration between software versions.

Charge the phone or tablet sufficiently for a lengthy software operation. Close other phone-management programs on the computer, use a direct USB port rather than a loose hub, and prevent the computer from sleeping. Do not begin if the cable or connector is intermittent. A replacement cable is not automatically required; buy one only if you lack a suitable data cable, and check the device connector and data-transfer support first.
Understand edition and availability limits
Beta periods and eligible models vary by country. Samsung also notes that update screens and settings can differ by carrier, software version and model. The labels below are Samsung’s published route, not a guarantee that every device will display identical screens.
Record your model and region before starting, especially if the phone uses carrier firmware. Do not follow a guide written for a different Galaxy variant just because the model names look similar. The software package and visible controls can differ between regional and carrier releases.
Step 1: Withdraw from the One UI beta in Samsung Members
- Open the Samsung Members app on the enrolled Galaxy device.
- Open Settings inside Samsung Members.
- Choose Beta program settings.
- Tap Withdraw from beta program and confirm the request.
Menu wording can change as Samsung updates the app or changes a beta program. If the exact label is different, look for the beta-program settings and the withdrawal control rather than selecting a general account-removal option.

Withdrawal stops participation; it does not by itself remove an already-installed beta build. If you have already installed beta software, continue with the Smart Switch rollback. If you only enrolled and never installed the beta, Samsung says the device remains on its current official version.
Take a screenshot or note the confirmation if you need to prove that you withdrew. It can help when discussing the device with support, although it does not replace the software rollback when a beta build is installed.
Step 2: Connect the device to Smart Switch on a computer
- Connect the Galaxy phone or tablet to the computer with a USB data cable.
- Unlock the device if prompted and allow the computer connection.
- Launch Smart Switch PC.
- Wait for Smart Switch to identify the device. If it does not, reconnect the cable, try another direct USB port, and confirm that the device is unlocked.
Samsung’s One UI Beta FAQ identifies Smart Switch PC as the rollback tool. It does not document a phone-only or over-the-air method for removing an installed beta. Samsung’s instructions also recommend using the cable supplied with the device. If you use a replacement, confirm that it carries data rather than providing charging only.
Do not start the downgrade until Smart Switch has recognized the correct phone or tablet. Connecting a different Galaxy device, or relying on a partial connection that drops in and out, creates avoidable risk during a software operation.
Step 3: Run the Downgrade operation
- In Smart Switch, select Downgrade when that option is offered.
- Read the warning about the reset and data removal, then accept the conditions only after confirming that your backup is complete.
- Follow every on-screen instruction. Smart Switch may download the approved software and restart the device several times.
- Keep the USB cable connected throughout the operation. Do not use the phone or tablet, close Smart Switch, or force-restart the computer while the rollback is running.
- Wait for Smart Switch to report completion before disconnecting the device.
Samsung’s general Smart Switch update guidance warns against disconnecting the USB cable or using the device during an update. Applying that same handling caution to the rollback is sensible because an interruption can leave the software installation incomplete.
The target is the latest approved software available for that device and program, not necessarily the exact build that was installed before you joined the beta. The visible screens, download size and restart sequence can vary by model, carrier, country and software version.
If Smart Switch displays a warning that the operation will erase the device, stop and verify the backup rather than treating the message as a routine update notice. Once the reset begins, files created after the backup may not be recoverable through ordinary setup.

Step 4: Set up the reset device and restore your backup
When the rollback finishes, the device starts the initial Android setup process. Connect to a trusted network, sign in with the required account and complete the security checks requested by the setup wizard.
- Open Smart Switch on the computer again if it is not already running.
- Connect the reset phone or tablet.
- Choose the restore option and select the computer backup made before rollback.
- Allow the restore to finish before opening large apps or changing system settings.
- Check contacts, photos, messages, documents, alarms, accessibility options and authentication apps individually.
Cloud-synced data may return when you sign in, while files stored only on the device depend on the backup. Apps may need to download updated stable-compatible versions, and some beta-only settings or diagnostics may not be restorable.
Test calls, mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and notifications after setup. Those checks do not change the rollback, but they reveal quickly whether a carrier profile or permission needs attention. Re-enroll authentication apps only after confirming that your recovery codes or backup method are available.
Why you may not see “Downgrade” in Smart Switch
The beta was never installed
If you enrolled but stayed on official software, there is nothing to downgrade. Withdraw in Samsung Members; Samsung says the current official software remains in place.
You withdrew, but the beta is still installed
Withdrawal and software removal are separate actions. Close and reopen Smart Switch, reconnect the device and check again after confirming that the phone is recognized. The official FAQ names the Downgrade function, but Samsung does not guarantee that every current model or program will expose the same button.

Beta availability varies by country and compatible device. Carrier firmware and regional variants can also change the menus and update path. Verify the exact model and region in Samsung Members and on Samsung’s device-specific support pages. Do not apply instructions for a different Galaxy variant.
Smart Switch cannot recognize the phone
- Unlock the device and accept any USB authorization prompt.
- Try the supplied cable or another known-good data cable.
- Use another direct USB port and remove hubs or adapters.
- Restart both the computer and the Galaxy device, then launch Smart Switch again.
- Install pending Smart Switch updates and make sure the computer has a working internet connection if software must be downloaded.
If recognition still fails, do not improvise with unofficial firmware-flashing tools. Samsung’s documented options are Smart Switch, its recovery workflow or service assistance.

You want to avoid a computer
Samsung’s published One UI Beta FAQ specifies Smart Switch PC for removing an installed beta. It does not establish a supported no-computer rollback method. Continuing on the beta until the official release is available avoids a reset, but Samsung gives no specific publication date.
What to do if the rollback fails
Use Smart Switch Emergency Software Recovery and Reset
Samsung documents an Emergency Software Recovery and Reset flow in Smart Switch for a failed software update or recovery. Open Smart Switch and follow that recovery option exactly as displayed. The recovery process may require the device to be reconnected and can also reset it, so use the backup you made before starting whenever possible.

Try the emergency code on another computer
Samsung’s Phone Recovery Guide describes using an emergency recovery code on another computer when recovery repeatedly fails on the original computer. Record the code shown by Smart Switch, move to the second computer, open the emergency recovery function and enter the code when prompted. Follow the guide’s instructions for the exact Smart Switch version and device state.
Contact a Samsung Service Center
Samsung says users who need help rolling back to the latest approved version can request the location of the nearest Service Center. Use that option when the device will not boot, Smart Switch repeatedly fails, the USB connection is unstable or the model’s beta support is unclear. Bring the device, a suitable cable and any Smart Switch error details; do not erase additional partitions or flash software from an unverified source before service.
Release timing after withdrawal
Leaving the beta does not guarantee that a stable over-the-air update appears immediately. Samsung states: “It is not possible to provide a specific date for publishing the release version.” The official release follows analysis of beta feedback and implementation of improvements. If you do not need to leave urgently, you can remain on the beta and update when Samsung publishes the official version; if you need approved software now, the Smart Switch rollback is the documented route.
This timing point matters when choosing between waiting and rolling back. Waiting avoids the reset and restore work, but leaves you on beta software for an unknown period. Rolling back gives you the approved release available through Samsung’s process, but requires a computer, a reliable USB connection and a complete backup.
