Use Unturned’s weather command to change conditions immediately. In chat, administrators can run /weather storm for rain, /weather blizzard for snow, /weather none to clear the current event and resume the map’s cycle, or /weather disable to stop the current event and prevent the next scheduled one. You can also supply a weather asset GUID for built-in or custom events, while gameplay configuration controls how often weather appears and how long it lasts.

What the weather commands do
Unturned lets an administrator start or end weather while the game is running. The official Weather reference describes weather as manually started and ended with the weather command. The command affects the active server or single-player session immediately; it is separate from the map’s normal weather schedule.

There are two different ways to stop what you see. /weather none removes the active weather and allows the game to schedule another event. /weather disable removes the active weather and also cancels future scheduled weather. That distinction matters on maps whose weather system would otherwise create another event as soon as the current one is cancelled.
Requirements and where commands can be entered
- Single-player: the player normally has administrator privileges by default.
- Multiplayer chat: you must have administrator privileges. Chat commands require a leading slash (
/) or at-sign (@). - Server console: commands can be submitted from the server console.
- Commands.dat: the official Commands reference also documents adding commands to a server’s
Commands.datfile.
If a command is rejected in multiplayer chat, the usual cause is missing administrator access rather than an invalid weather value. Ask the server owner to grant the appropriate admin privileges, or have the owner run the command from the server console.

Commands are case-insensitive, so uppercase and lowercase letters produce the same command. Keep the command prefix when using chat; the prefix tells Unturned that the message is a command rather than ordinary text.
Change weather immediately: step-by-step
- Open the input you will use. Open in-game chat for a player-controlled session, or open the dedicated server console if you administer the server.
- Confirm permission. Chat execution requires administrator privileges. Single-player users ordinarily already have them.
- Choose the behavior you want. Use one of the commands in the table below. In chat, begin with
/or@. - Submit the command. Press Enter in chat, or submit it in the server console. The active weather should change immediately when the value is valid.
- Check the result. If the sky does not change, verify the spelling, your privileges, and whether the map has its own weather schedule or a custom weather asset.

The same weather values can be sent through the server console or placed in the server’s command configuration as documented by the official Commands page. The slash and at-sign prefixes are specifically for chat input.

none versus disable: the important difference
Use /weather none to reset the current event
/weather none is a reset, not a permanent off switch. It clears rain, snow, or another active weather effect and hands control back to the map’s scheduling system. If the map decides that another event is due, weather can return without another command.

This is the right choice when you want a clear interval but still want ordinary weather to continue later. It is also useful after a short event, such as clearing rain before a building project while preserving the map’s normal atmosphere over the rest of the session.
Use /weather disable to suppress scheduled weather
/weather disable cancels both the visible event and future scheduled weather. It was added in the March 18, 2022 update; the official patch notes identify the option as a way to disable weather rather than simply clear the current effect.
This distinction is especially useful on maps such as Yukon, where clearing weather can otherwise be followed quickly by another scheduled event. After disabling weather, you can start a chosen event manually with /weather storm, /weather blizzard, or a GUID when you want conditions to return.

Reissuing the active weather value does not simply toggle it
The March 18, 2022 patch notes also clarify that using the weather command with the GUID of the currently active weather reschedules that weather instead of toggling it off. If you need to end an event, use none or disable according to the scheduling behavior you want.
Built-in weather values and GUIDs
Short names are convenient when Unturned provides one. GUIDs let you select weather assets that do not have a dedicated short command, including a heavy thunderstorm and gentle snowfall. Enter the GUID as the weather value after the command.

GUIDs are exact identifiers: copy every character, including all letters and numbers. A typo is interpreted as an unknown value and will not start the intended asset. If a short name exists, it is generally easier to type; use the GUID when you specifically need the corresponding asset.

How to make weather happen more or less often
Runtime commands change the current session. For a server-wide pacing change, edit the gameplay configuration described in the official Gameplay config reference. The relevant settings are:
Rain_Frequency_MinRain_Frequency_MaxRain_Duration_MinRain_Duration_MaxWeather_Frequency_MultiplierWeather_Duration_Multiplier
Frequency settings
The minimum and maximum rain-frequency values define the configured range used for rain scheduling. The Weather_Frequency_Multiplier adjusts that pacing globally. According to the documented behavior, lower frequency multipliers make configured weather occur more often; increasing the multiplier spaces events farther apart. Change one setting at a time and observe a complete cycle before deciding whether another adjustment is needed.
Duration settings
Rain_Duration_Min and Rain_Duration_Max define the configured range for rain length. Weather_Duration_Multiplier scales how long configured weather lasts: a higher duration multiplier produces longer events, while a lower value shortens them.

Important map limitation
The weather multipliers do not affect maps that use a default weather system when the map supplies its own schedule. If changing the multipliers has no visible effect, check whether the map has an independent weather schedule before changing additional values. A command can still start or end weather at runtime even when these global multipliers do not control that map’s schedule.

Server administration and multiplayer troubleshooting
“Unknown command” or no visible change
- Check that you typed
weatherfollowed by a valid short name or complete GUID. - In chat, add
/or@before the command. - Confirm that your account has administrator privileges. A regular player cannot use chat commands merely by knowing the syntax.
- Try the server console if chat permission is unavailable, and ask the server owner to run the command.
Weather returns immediately after clearing
You probably used /weather none, which deliberately permits a new scheduled event. Use /weather disable when the requirement is a clear server with no automatic replacement weather.
The command works, but the effect is different from the map’s normal weather
Maps can use their own default weather systems, and mods can provide custom weather assets. Global multipliers may not govern a map with an independent schedule. Treat a manually started event as a runtime override and consult the map or mod’s documentation for its asset behavior.
A GUID does not start the expected event
Re-copy the identifier and ensure there are no spaces or missing characters. The GUID must belong to a weather asset available to that server. A custom GUID from a mod is not guaranteed to behave like the built-in storm or blizzard assets.
Custom weather for map makers and mod authors
The Unturned 3 modding knowledgebase explains that a weather asset GUID can be passed to the weather command to start a custom weather event. This allows a map or mod to define weather beyond the built-in short names. Custom weather depends on the asset supplied by the map or mod, so its visuals, timing, and gameplay effects may differ from the standard events.
