To stop future iOS beta updates, turn Beta Updates off on iOS 16.4 or later, or remove the beta software profile on iOS 16.3.1 or earlier. Neither action removes the beta version already installed on your iPhone; returning to public iOS requires erasing and restoring the device.
Turn off beta updates on iOS 16.4 or later
- Open Settings.
- Tap General, then Software Update.
- Tap Beta Updates.
- Select Off.
Apple’s current instructions use this route for iOS 16.4 or later. With Beta Updates off, the device stops receiving later beta updates; Apple’s steps are documented at Unenroll Your Devices and How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software.

Remove the beta profile on iOS 16.3.1 or earlier
- Open Settings, then tap General.
- Tap VPN & Device Management.
- Tap iOS or iPadOS Beta Software Profile.
- Tap Remove Profile. Enter your device passcode if prompted, then confirm.
Apple says deleting the profile stops public beta delivery. The profile-removal route applies to iOS 16.3.1 or earlier; Apple’s instructions are on its device unenrollment page.

What happens to the beta already installed?
Turning off Beta Updates or removing the profile prevents future beta delivery; it does not downgrade the iOS version currently on the phone. To remove an installed beta immediately and return to the current publicly released iOS version, Apple says to erase and restore the device. If the beta was installed using a computer, Apple says it must be removed by restoring iOS. See Apple’s restore instructions before proceeding.

If you are not restoring, you can install the next commercial iOS release through Software Update when it becomes available. Apple does not specify a fixed wait time or release date for that route.
Leave Apple Beta Software Program membership
Changing the iPhone’s beta setting and leaving the Apple Beta Software Program are separate actions. To leave the program, sign in on the Apple Beta Software Program site and use the Leave Program link. Apple says leaving ends program emails and the ability to submit feedback with Feedback Assistant; its FAQ explains the membership change.
