To run two YouTube channels with different 24/7 video rotations, set up a separate YouTube stream destination for each channel, then send each channel’s rotation to its matching destination through an encoder or playout system. YouTube’s documentation requires a different stream for each channel; the rotation itself is controlled by the system sending the video, not by a documented built-in YouTube feature for independently looping two video libraries as live feeds.
How YouTube treats two channels and their streams
YouTube distinguishes a live broadcast—the watchable event—from the incoming stream that carries audio and video to YouTube. Its Live Streaming API guide says that an account with multiple channels must create a different stream for each channel: YouTube Live Streaming API guide.

For this setup, think of Channel A and Channel B as separate destinations. Each needs its own YouTube stream settings and incoming feed. The cited YouTube guidance does not document a built-in playlist feature that independently rotates two uploaded video libraries as continuous live feeds. Instead, configure the two rotations in the encoder or playout workflow and route each to the corresponding channel.

Prepare the two rotations
- Sort the videos by channel. Decide which recordings belong in Channel A’s rotation and which belong in Channel B’s. Check that you have the right files and intended order for each one.
- Build separate rotations in your playout system. Create one playlist or rotation for each channel. The controls and scheduling options depend on the software or hardware you choose; YouTube’s guidance does not specify third-party playlist controls.
- Verify independent output support. Confirm that your encoder or playout workflow can produce two independent feeds at once, each with its own rotation and destination. YouTube’s documentation establishes the separate stream requirement, but not that every encoder can generate both feeds.
Create and connect each YouTube destination
- Open the relevant channel’s YouTube Live Control Room and create or select its stream settings. Repeat for the other channel, keeping the two channel destinations distinct.
- For each destination, obtain its stream URL and stream key, then enter those settings in the matching encoder or playout output: Channel A’s rotation to Channel A’s destination, and Channel B’s rotation to Channel B’s destination. YouTube explains that stream keys are like a stream’s password and address in Manage live stream settings.
- Keep each key private. Check the destination before starting an output, especially if you reuse settings for scheduled broadcasts. A broadcast event and a stream resource are separate concepts in YouTube’s API model; the API guide also describes binding streams to broadcasts and includes a 24/7 feed example: YouTube Live Streaming API guide.
Preview and verify both live feeds
Test the channels separately before depending on them unattended. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance, previewing the stream, confirming viewer access from channel and watch pages, and monitoring audio and video quality. - Confirm Channel A’s preview shows its intended rotation, then check Channel B’s preview for its own rotation.
- Open each channel and its live watch page to make sure the correct feed is visible and accessible.
- Listen for audio and check the video throughout each preview; a feed reaching YouTube does not by itself confirm the right playlist or acceptable output quality.
- After launch, monitor both streams. A problem on one output does not establish that the other is healthy.
YouTube says professional-grade hardware encoders are recommended for higher-production-value events, but does not state that hardware is required for separate rotations. Whichever approach you choose, verify that it supports two independent outputs and the unattended operating workflow you need.
Choosing an encoder or playout workflow
The YouTube sources do not compare specific products, so assess a prospective setup against the actual two-channel requirement rather than assuming a feature from a product category. Check for:

Do not assume that a device or app capable of one live output can run two different feeds simultaneously. Confirm that capability for the exact model, software version, and workflow before building around it.

Common problems to check
- The channels show the wrong rotation: Check that each encoder output is connected to the intended channel’s stream URL and key, and that the correct playlist is assigned to that output.
- One channel is live but the other is not: Inspect each output’s destination settings and status independently. Confirm that the encoder or playout system can run two outputs simultaneously.
- The preview is inaccessible or not showing the feed: Recheck the selected channel’s Live Control Room settings, encoder connection, and viewer access from both channel and watch pages.
- The video appears but audio or picture quality is wrong: Review the source rotation and encoder output for that channel, then preview and monitor it again. YouTube recommends checking both audio and video quality.
- A scheduled broadcast uses an unexpected destination: Recheck the broadcast-to-stream association and the stream URL and key for that channel before going live; scheduled broadcasts may reuse settings.
