For sliding decor, use a flat non-slip liner; for a small object that tips, museum putty may help if it is suitable for both the object and the tray. Even placement still matters, and a raised rim is not a substitute for a stable arrangement.
Find out which surface is moving
Rotate the Lazy Susan slowly and watch the tray and the decor. If an item shifts relative to the tray, address the contact between the item and the rotating surface. If the whole turntable slides across the shelf, address the base-to-shelf contact instead. These are different problems: grip under the base will not secure decor on top, and a liner on top will not stop the base from moving.

Apply the fix safely
For decor sliding on the tray
- Choose a non-slip mat, shelf liner, or other grippy material suited to the tray.
- Cut or position it so it sits flat on the rotating surface. Do not let it bunch up or extend into the rotating mechanism.
- Turn the tray slowly and check that the liner stays put and the items no longer slide. If an object still tips, improve its placement or consider securing that object individually.

For an individual item that tips
Museum putty is an option for a small decoration that needs to be held to the tray. Gaylord Archival’s instructions describe rolling small balls or strips, applying them to the item’s base, pressing down, and twisting the item into position. Its guidance limits use to nonporous objects and surfaces. Do not assume putty is safe for every finish, collectible, or tray material; check the chosen product’s instructions first. For the whole turntable shifting
Check the contact between the Lazy Susan’s base and the shelf. A non-slip material beneath the base is a separate approach from lining the top; Boston University’s construction guide describes attaching non-slip rubber to the base. Arrange decor to reduce tipping

- Set objects securely on their bases and avoid putting top-heavy pieces near the edge.
- Use a rim as a boundary for small items, not as a restraint for an unstable or top-heavy object.
- Check that the tray is level and rotates without catching the liner or decor.
