Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo rotate sermons in a 24/7 YouTube live stream, set the repeat behavior in the encoder—not in YouTube’s viewer-side replay controls. In OBS Studio, use a Media Source with Loop enabled to repeat one sermon, or a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist enabled to cycle through several. Then send OBS to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key, and preview the result in Live Control Room.
Why the same sermon repeats—and where to change it
YouTube’s repeat and playlist controls affect what an individual viewer watches. They do not choose which recordings an encoder sends as a live broadcast. To rotate sermons in a live feed, configure the source playlist in the software that sends video to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and stream key to receive that feed: YouTube: Go live with an encoder.

Choose the right OBS setup
| What you want | OBS source | Setting | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat one sermon | Media Source | Enable Loop | Restarts the selected media file when playback ends. |
| Rotate several sermons | VLC Video | Enable Loop Playlist; keep shuffle off for a fixed order | Plays the selected files in playlist order, then repeats the playlist. |
The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. For its documented source options, see OBS Project: Media Sources.

1. Confirm YouTube live access
Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility and setup in YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

2. Prepare the recordings
Put the sermon video files on the computer that will run OBS, in a location that will remain available throughout the broadcast. Decide whether you want to repeat one recording or cycle through multiple recordings. For a playlist, arrange the files in the desired order and use filenames or a separate list to make the sequence easy to verify.
3. Add and configure the source
- For one sermon: In OBS, select the scene where the sermon should appear. In the Sources box, select + → Media Source → Create New. Choose the recording file and enable Loop in the source properties.
- For multiple sermons: Install VLC, then in OBS select + → VLC Video → Create New. Add the sermon files to its playlist in the order you want, enable Loop Playlist, and leave shuffle off if the order matters.
- Check the scene preview and audio for every file. Play through the playlist—including the transition from the final sermon back to the first—before relying on it for a public broadcast. OBS documents looping, but does not promise gapless transitions.
4. Connect OBS to YouTube
In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings, then start the encoder. Treat the stream key like a credential: do not publish or share it with people who do not need access. YouTube’s connection and preview steps are covered in its encoder guide.

5. Preview before relying on the broadcast
Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room before starting the public stream. Confirm that the picture is visible, audio is audible and correctly routed, and the right sermon is playing. Monitor the stream after it starts; a working loop in OBS does not prevent an internet or power interruption.
Keep the DIY stream running reliably
A local OBS stream depends on the computer, OBS, source files, power, and internet connection remaining available. YouTube recommends testing the setup, previewing and monitoring the stream, and allowing upload-bandwidth headroom. A network disruption can interrupt a stream; YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 service. See YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream.

- Keep the computer powered and prevent it from sleeping while OBS is streaming.
- Make sure the sermon files remain at the paths OBS expects; moving or renaming them can break playback.
- Test the full playlist and its last-to-first transition. Looping is documented, but seamless transitions are not guaranteed.
- Check the broadcast periodically for stalled playback, missing audio, or a dropped connection.
Plan saved replays around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise archiving for streams longer than 12 hours. If a saved replay matters, schedule broadcast sessions to end before that threshold and restart them as needed. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
