Connect to a visible Wi-Fi network
- Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi. The iPad searches for networks in range.
- Tap the network you want to join. If asked, enter its password. If you do not know the password, contact the network administrator.
- Look for a blue checkmark beside the network name and the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen.

Join a hidden network
A hidden network may not appear in the available-network list. In Settings > Wi-Fi, tap Other, then enter the network name, security type, and password. Apple outlines this option in its Connect iPad to the internet guide.

Some public networks use a captive login page instead of asking only for a Wi-Fi password. Select the network and wait for its login screen. If it does not appear, open Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the Info control beside the network, then choose Join Network.

Follow the network’s prompts: they may ask for a username and password, an email address, or acceptance of terms. Fees may apply; contact the network provider if you need to check charges. See Apple’s Use captive Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone or iPad guidance.
Fix a network that does not reconnect automatically
iPad can remember network and login information. For a captive network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the Info control beside its name, and check that Auto-Join is on. If you want the welcome screen to appear the next time you connect, turn off Auto-Login.

Review a saved network’s settings
After joining a network, open Settings > Wi-Fi and tap its Info control to forget the network or review related settings. Available options include Low Data Mode and Private Wi-Fi Address. Apple’s Manage Wi-Fi settings on iPad guide describes these controls.
Keep Private Wi-Fi Address on unless troubleshooting calls for a change
Apple says its devices identify themselves to each network using a different Wi-Fi address and may rotate that address periodically to improve privacy. Apple recommends leaving Private Wi-Fi Address enabled on networks and with software that support it. If your iPad cannot join a network or access resources after joining, install the latest software updates and try again before deciding to turn the feature off.
