Use YouTube’s built-in Go Live Together feature: start or schedule the stream, send your guest an invitation link, then admit them from the waiting room. The guest joins from a mobile device, and YouTube documents the live guest workflow as mobile-based. There is no separate fee described for inviting a guest.
Before you invite a guest
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days.
- YouTube’s current Help page says creators must be at least 16 years old to live stream.
- Your guest must have a YouTube channel. YouTube says, “You can invite anyone that has a YouTube channel to co-stream with you.”
- Check your channel’s current live-streaming eligibility before you plan the broadcast; eligibility and restrictions can affect whether you can start a stream.

Invite and admit a guest from your phone
- On the host’s mobile device, tap Create, then Live.
- Open Edit to choose the video and broadcast settings.
- Turn on Go live together, enter the stream details, then tap Next.
- Under Invite a co-streamer, copy the invitation link or choose a messaging option to send it to your guest.
- Ask the guest to open the link on a mobile device. They will be taken to the waiting room, where they can check their audio and video.
- When you are ready, tap Go live. When the guest appears in the waiting room, select Add, then confirm Go live to start the stream with them.
The guest sees an indication when they are live. The video appears alongside the guest’s feed, with vertical orientation as the default.

Schedule the stream on a computer
You can schedule a stream with a guest from a computer using YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then go live from a mobile phone. The documented guest go-live workflow is mobile-based; YouTube’s separate desktop webcam instructions do not describe the webcam controls as a way to invite a Go Live Together guest.

What the host and guest can do
- Only one guest appears on screen at a time. The host can rotate guests during the stream.
- The host can see stream analytics in YouTube Studio; the guest cannot.
- The host is responsible for the stream and for ensuring that guests follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines, copyright policy, and other applicable policies.
- The host has moderation controls and can remove the co-streamer.
Fix invitation-link problems
The link will not open from a messaging app
Send it by email or text instead. YouTube recommends these alternatives if the link does not open correctly in a messaging app.

You need to invalidate an old link
Reset the invitation link in the co-streamer invitation controls, then send the guest the new link.

Optional audio improvement
A smartphone-compatible lavalier microphone is optional if a guest wants to improve audio. It is not required to send or accept an invitation. Check that any microphone works with the guest’s phone and that the guest can monitor audio; YouTube does not specify a recommended microphone or model.

Go Live Together is for bringing a guest into a live broadcast.
