It is a separately installed resource that controls emergency-light patterns, sirens and related controls for supported vehicles. Before uploading anything, choose the project you are actually installing: ELS-FiveM uses Lua vehicle configuration files, while MISS-ELS uses XML vehicle files and a different configuration process. Their files are not interchangeable.

What you need before installing ELS
Prepare the server and vehicle resources first. ELS can only control a vehicle that is already installed and recognized by FiveM; it does not supply police, ambulance or fire vehicle models.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Choose one ELS project
| Project | Configuration format | Where vehicle files go | Important dependency or warning |
|---|---|---|---|
| ELS-FiveM | Lua: vcf.lua, copied from vcf.default.lua |
vcf/ directory, one VCF per emergency vehicle model |
Keep vcf.default.lua; do not use MISS-ELS or MIX-ELS XML files in this resource |
| MISS-ELS | Lua resource configuration plus XML VCF files | Use the folder layout supplied by the release; each XML file defines one vehicle | baseevents must start before MISS-ELS |
| MIX-ELS | Its own modified configuration and XML layout | The project documentation places VCF files in xmlFiles |
The default ELS configuration file does not work with this fork |
ELS-FiveM is the original project associated with MrDaGree and is commonly distributed through maintained forks. MISS-ELS is a matsn0w fork of IIS-EmergencyLS. MIX-ELS is a heavily modified fork based on MISS-ELS. Select the exact project name shown in the downloaded folder and follow that project’s instructions; do not combine files simply because both projects use the term VCF.
Server and access requirements
- Access to the FiveM server’s resource directory, either through an FTP/SFTP client, a control panel file manager or the host’s container shell.
- Permission to edit
server.cfgand restart the server. - A downloaded release of the chosen ELS project, extracted without an extra archive layer that hides the resource manifest.
- Emergency vehicle resources installed separately. ELS does not include the vehicle’s YFT or YTD model files.
- A backup of the current resource folder and
server.cfgbefore changing startup order or replacing configuration files.
Stop the server before changing files when your panel recommends it. This prevents a running resource from retaining old configuration in memory while you are testing a new one.
Install ELS-FiveM
Use this path when the downloaded resource contains files such as vcf.default.lua and a vcf directory. The capitalization of the resource folder matters when it is referenced from server.cfg.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
1. Download and inspect the resource
- Download the ELS-FiveM release or a maintained fork from its project repository.
- Extract the archive on your computer.
- Open the extracted folder and confirm that the resource files are at its top level. If the archive created a path such as
ELS-FiveM-main/ELS-FiveM/, use the inner folder that contains the resource manifest and Lua files. - Do not rename individual files while you are still following the project’s default layout.
A normal ELS-FiveM folder should contain the default vehicle configuration file and a directory for vehicle configuration files. The exact additional files can vary between forks, so preserve the supplied files rather than deleting files that appear unused.
2. Create the active vcf.lua
- Find
vcf.default.luain the resource’s top-level directory. - Make a copy in the same directory.
- Rename only the copy to
vcf.lua. - Leave
vcf.default.luain place.
The project README describes this requirement as: “Create a file called ‘vcf.lua’ and copy the file contents of ‘vcf.default.lua’ into that file, but do not delete the default file.” Keeping both files lets the resource retain its template and gives you a recoverable starting point if your active configuration becomes invalid.
3. Upload the complete folder
- Stop the FiveM server.
- Upload the entire ELS-FiveM folder to the server’s
resourcesdirectory, or to the framework-specific resources subdirectory used by your server. - Keep the folder name you intend to use in
server.cfg. For example, if the uploaded directory is namedELS-FiveM, the resource name is alsoELS-FiveM. - Check that the manifest and scripts are directly inside that directory, not one level deeper because of an archive wrapper.
Some hosting instructions show ELS-FiveM under a QBCore resources path. That is only a path example: place it in the resources location used by your own framework. A standalone ELS script is not automatically compatible with every framework-specific vehicle or dispatch system.

4. Add vehicle configuration files
Place the VCF files supplied for your emergency vehicles inside the resource’s vcf subfolder. The ELS-FiveM README states that VCF files belong there so the resource can find them. Use one matching VCF for each emergency vehicle model you intend to operate.
The model name used by the VCF must correspond to the vehicle’s spawn/model name, not merely the display name shown in a dealership menu. If a pack contains several models, check the pack’s documentation or its vehicle metadata and keep each VCF’s filename and internal model reference consistent with that name.
5. Install the vehicle models separately
ELS controls lighting and patterns; it does not install the vehicle. Add the emergency vehicle resource containing the YFT and YTD files, its own manifest and any required data files. Test that the vehicle can spawn before troubleshooting ELS. A missing or incorrectly named vehicle cannot be repaired by changing vcf.lua.
6. Enable the resource in server.cfg
Add an ensure line using the exact resource directory name:
ensure ELS-FiveM
If your folder has a different name, use that name instead. Do not add the archive filename or a path beginning with your computer’s local drive. Keep the line with the other resource startup entries.

7. Restart and read the console
- Save
server.cfg. - Restart the server, or start the resource from your host panel or txAdmin console.
- Watch the console for a resource-start message and for Lua errors.
- Join the server, spawn a supported emergency vehicle and test the light and siren controls.
If the resource starts but a vehicle has no lights, first verify the model name and VCF placement. A successful resource start only proves that the script loaded; it does not prove that a matching vehicle configuration was found.

Install MISS-ELS
Use MISS-ELS when the release instructions refer to config.example.lua, XML VCF files or the IIS-EmergencyLS lineage. Do not create vcf.lua by copying an ELS-FiveM template into this resource.
1. Download the latest release for MISS-ELS
- Download the current release published for MISS-ELS.
- Extract it and identify the folder that contains the resource manifest and scripts.
- Read the release notes before upgrading an existing installation. The project documentation notes that upgrades can require changes to
config.lua.
2. Create config.lua from the example
- Locate
config.example.lua. - Copy it in the same directory.
- Rename the copy to
config.lua. - Edit only the settings you understand, preserving Lua syntax and the keys expected by that release.
MISS-ELS does not use ELS-FiveM’s vcf.default.lua. Copying that file into MISS-ELS creates a configuration mismatch rather than completing the installation.
3. Upload the resource
- Stop the server.
- Copy the complete MISS-ELS folder into the server’s resources directory.
- Confirm that
config.luais beside the resource’s scripts, not left on your local computer or inside the downloaded archive. - Preserve any XML directories supplied by the release.
4. Install XML VCF files
MISS-ELS uses XML VCF files to hold the ELS configuration for an individual vehicle. Follow the folder name and filename pattern included with the release and keep one XML configuration per vehicle model. Do not place Lua VCF files from ELS-FiveM into the MISS-ELS XML directory.
5. Start baseevents first
The MISS-ELS documentation requires baseevents to be started before MISS-ELS. Put the dependency first in server.cfg:
ensure baseevents
ensure MISS-ELS
If your resource folder is named differently, replace MISS-ELS with that exact name. Starting MISS-ELS before baseevents can produce missing-event errors or leave vehicle controls inactive even though the resource appears in the server list.
6. Restart and test
- Save
server.cfgand restart the server. - Check the console for errors from
baseevents, MISS-ELS or the XML loader. - Spawn a vehicle with a matching XML VCF.
- Test lighting, patterns, siren audio and indicators if your configuration enables those features.
Do not mix MISS-ELS and MIX-ELS configuration files
MIX-ELS is based on MISS-ELS but changes its configuration and file layout. Its documentation explicitly warns: “The "default" ELS configurations file will not work this resource.” Treat MIX-ELS as a separate installation:
Rank #4
- Multi-Platform PC Gaming Controller: Working with Switch, PC, Android, and iOS devices via Bluetooth, wired, and wireless dongle connections.
- Hall Effect Joysticks: Delivering enhanced recentering performance for smoother control and superior anti-drift capability. Plus, with anti-friction rings.
- 2-Way Trigger Lock: With trigger stops, gamers can toggle between short and long pull positions. Additionally, gamers can activate hair trigger mode by pressing M+LT/RT (triggers must be in the long pull position).
- 1000Hz Polling Rate: This ensures that your inputs are registered almost instantaneously, minimizing lag and maximizing your performance during competitive play.
- Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.
- Use the MIX-ELS release’s own configuration example, not an ELS-FiveM or MISS-ELS default file.
- Place vehicle XML files in the directory expected by that release; MIX-ELS documentation identifies
xmlFiles. - Use the resource name shown by the MIX-ELS folder in
server.cfg. - When upgrading, read the release notes for configuration changes instead of copying an older configuration blindly.
If you are unsure which project you downloaded, inspect the files before editing anything. The presence of vcf.default.lua points to the ELS-FiveM path; config.example.lua and XML vehicle files point toward MISS-ELS or a related fork. A folder containing a mixture of these layouts should be replaced with a clean download of the intended project.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Configure startup order and resource names correctly
Use the exact folder name
FiveM’s ensure command addresses a resource by directory name. These examples are different resource names:
ensure ELS-FiveM
ensure ELS_FiveM
ensure els-fivem
Use only the spelling and capitalization of the directory you uploaded. If you rename the folder later, update server.cfg to match.
Keep dependencies above ELS
For MISS-ELS, place ensure baseevents before the MISS-ELS line. For ELS-FiveM, keep any dependency required by the particular fork above the ELS resource. The project release notes take priority over a generic startup order because forks can add or remove dependencies.
Start vehicle resources as well
An ELS resource can run with no vehicle pack installed, but there will be nothing useful to test. Ensure the vehicle resource is enabled and that its model name matches the VCF or XML configuration. If the vehicle resource itself fails, solve that resource’s error first.
How vehicle configuration is matched
ELS-FiveM Lua VCF files
ELS-FiveM discovers VCF files in its vcf directory. The file describes how a particular model uses light stages, patterns, siren controls and other supported behavior. Copy every VCF supplied for the models you run; installing only the script and omitting the model files leaves the resource without vehicle-specific instructions.

Do not rename vcf.default.lua to replace the active file. The active file is vcf.lua, while the default file remains as the template. When editing Lua, preserve commas, braces, quotation marks and table structure. One syntax error can prevent the resource from starting.
MISS-ELS and MIX-ELS XML files
In the MISS-ELS family, an XML VCF contains the configuration for one vehicle. The correct directory differs by fork: MISS-ELS follows the layout in its release, while MIX-ELS documentation identifies xmlFiles. Copy the XML files into the directory expected by the exact project you installed and make sure their model identifiers match the spawned vehicle.
Because XML and Lua configurations are different formats, changing an extension does not convert a file. Obtain the matching configuration for the resource and vehicle pack instead.
Verify an installation without guessing
- Confirm the resource is found. At restart, the console should process the resource name from
server.cfgwithout a “resource not found” message. - Confirm dependencies load. For MISS-ELS, verify that
baseeventsstarts before MISS-ELS and that neither resource reports an initialization error. - Confirm the vehicle spawns. Test the model independently of ELS so a missing YFT/YTD file is not mistaken for a lighting problem.
- Confirm configuration discovery. Check that the matching VCF or XML file is in the correct directory and uses the vehicle’s actual model name.
- Test one vehicle first. Use a single known-supported model before adding a large fleet. This isolates filename and configuration errors.
- Test each control separately. Check warning lights, stage changes, siren audio and indicators individually; a vehicle may have a valid light configuration but an incomplete siren or indicator setup.
Troubleshoot the most common failures
The console says the resource cannot be found
- Compare the directory name with the spelling in
ensure. - Move the resource out of an accidental nested folder created during extraction.
- Confirm that the folder is inside the server’s active resources path, not a different local or backup directory.
- Restart after correcting the path rather than relying on a stale panel status.
The resource starts, but no lights appear
- Verify that the vehicle model is installed and can spawn.
- Check that a matching VCF or XML file exists for the model.
- For ELS-FiveM, confirm that the active
vcf.luaexists and that vehicle files are insidevcf/. - For MISS-ELS or MIX-ELS, confirm the XML directory required by that fork.
- Test with a vehicle known to have a supplied configuration before editing files.
ELS-FiveM fails immediately after installation
- Check that you copied
vcf.default.luatovcf.luainstead of deleting or renaming the default. - Open the console for a Lua syntax error caused by an incomplete edit.
- Restore a clean copy of
vcf.luafrom the default template, then add changes one at a time.
MISS-ELS reports event or initialization errors
- Place
ensure baseeventsbeforeensure MISS-ELS. - Check that
config.luawas copied from the same release’sconfig.example.lua. - Remove configuration files copied from ELS-FiveM or MIX-ELS and restore the MISS-ELS layout.
MIX-ELS ignores the configuration
- Use the MIX-ELS configuration format; its documentation says the default ELS configuration file will not work with that resource.
- Put XML files in
xmlFileswhen that is the directory specified by your MIX-ELS release. - Check release notes after an upgrade because configuration keys or locations can change.
The vehicle spawns but sirens or indicators do not work
ELS features depend on the vehicle configuration. Confirm that the selected VCF or XML file defines the relevant controls and that the vehicle model actually supports the associated lighting or audio slots. Do not assume that every emergency vehicle pack implements every ELS feature. Compare the failing model with a known-supported model using the same resource and startup order.
Changes appear to have no effect
- Stop and restart the resource or the entire server after editing configuration files.
- Make sure you edited the copy on the live server, not the archive on your computer.
- Check for duplicate resource folders with similar names; the server may be starting one while you edit another.
- Read the console after restart for a parse error that caused the old configuration to remain active or the resource to stop.
Updating, backing up and removing ELS
Before an update
- Record the current resource folder name and the relevant
server.cfglines. - Back up
vcf.lua,config.lua, all VCF/XML files and any custom edits. - Read the new release notes, especially for MISS-ELS and MIX-ELS, where configuration changes may be required.
- Stop the server before replacing files.
After an update
Install the new release into a clean folder when possible, then copy your backed-up vehicle configurations into the new layout rather than overwriting every new file. Recheck the project name, startup order and configuration filenames. Test one vehicle before returning the entire fleet to service.
To remove ELS
- Delete or comment out the relevant
ensureline inserver.cfg. - Stop the server.
- Move the ELS resource folder out of the resources directory or delete it after confirming your backup.
- Remove only the ELS-specific VCF/XML files if they are no longer needed; do not delete the vehicle model resource unless you also intend to remove that vehicle.
Final installation checklist
- You selected ELS-FiveM, MISS-ELS or MIX-ELS before copying files.
- The configuration format matches that project: Lua for ELS-FiveM, XML-based files for MISS-ELS and MIX-ELS.
- ELS-FiveM has both
vcf.luaand the untouchedvcf.default.lua. - MISS-ELS has
config.luacopied fromconfig.example.lua. - MIX-ELS uses its own configuration and, where specified, the
xmlFilesdirectory. - Each emergency vehicle has a matching VCF or XML configuration and separately installed YFT/YTD model files.
- The resource is in the live resources directory and is enabled with the exact folder name in
server.cfg. baseeventsstarts before MISS-ELS.- The server was restarted after file and configuration changes, and the console was checked for errors.
Once those conditions are met, ELS has the information it needs to attach emergency-light behavior to the vehicle models on your FiveM server. Future vehicles require the same discipline: install the model, add its matching configuration in the correct format and folder, then test it before deploying it to players.
