Brave Origin on a GrapheneOS phone is enabled as an upgrade inside the regular Brave Browser app; it is not a separate Android app or APK. Install Brave, update it to version 1.91 or later, then open ⋮ > All Settings > General > Brave Origin. If prompted, buy the upgrade through the Play Store, restart Brave, and return to the Origin panel.
Install Brave Browser on GrapheneOS
Brave documents Google Play and its official F-Droid repository as Android distribution options. Install Brave from the channel you intend to keep using:

- Google Play: install Brave Browser from the Play Store.
- F-Droid: use Brave’s official F-Droid repository and follow its current repository instructions.
Brave says its F-Droid builds use the same source code as the Play version and receive automatic updates through the repository. Install Brave only from the channel you choose, and use that same channel to receive its updates.
Enable Brave Origin in the Android app
Brave’s help page says Origin is available on Android as an upgrade for Brave version 1.91 and later. Check for an app update in your chosen distribution channel before looking for the Origin setting.

- If you have not purchased Origin, tap Buy now to open the Play Store purchase flow and complete the purchase.
- Restart Brave after purchase.
- Open the Brave Origin panel again.
Brave describes Origin as “A minimalist browser that lets you manage (or totally remove) features found in the free version of Brave.” On Android, however, you enable it from within the existing Brave app rather than downloading a separate Origin app.
Keep Brave updated
There is no separate Android Origin updater described in Brave’s instructions. Update the Brave Browser app through the source you used to install it:

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition

- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
- For a Play Store installation, check for Brave updates in Google Play.
- For an official F-Droid installation, receive Brave updates through that repository.
Brave documents the F-Droid distribution and the Play Store purchase route, but does not explain whether Origin purchase verification works identically for an F-Droid-installed copy. If you use F-Droid and encounter a purchase or activation problem, consult Brave’s current support guidance rather than assuming the two channels handle licensing the same way.
Don’t confuse Origin activation with installing GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS’s WebUSB installation instructions concern flashing the operating system from a computer. They list Brave as a supported host browser for that workflow only when Brave Shields are disabled, because Shields restrict storage usage. That requirement does not apply to enabling Brave Origin inside Brave on a GrapheneOS phone.

Price and availability
Brave’s help article, updated September 8, 2026, identifies Android Origin as an upgrade for Brave 1.91 and later and describes it as a one-time purchase. Brave’s June 29, 2026 launch article stated a US$59.99 one-time price; that is a dated price, not a guarantee of today’s Play Store listing. Check the current listing before buying.
Brave’s documentation describes standalone Origin downloads for desktop platforms, while Android Origin is presented as an upgrade to the existing Brave app. Do not look for a separate Android Origin APK.
