You can clear Hulu’s app cache directly on Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The Roku, Samsung TV, and LG TV instructions cited here do not document a Hulu-specific cache control; use the platform’s restart, update, or app-reinstall steps instead. Try the least disruptive fix first, since clearing app data or resetting a TV can remove saved state or settings.
Clear Hulu’s cache on Fire TV or Fire TV Stick
Fire TV has a per-app cache control. The menu labels may vary slightly by software version, but the documented path is:

- Open Settings from the Fire TV menu.
- Select Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
- Choose Hulu.
- Select Clear Cache, then reopen Hulu and check whether the problem is fixed.
Amazon lists Clear Data separately from Clear Cache. Clear cache first. Clearing data is a broader app reset, so you may need to set Hulu up again or sign in again. See Amazon’s Fire TV app cache instructions for the platform’s menu guidance.
If Hulu still crashes or will not load, Amazon also recommends restarting Fire TV, reinstalling the app, or checking for a Fire TV software update; see its app troubleshooting steps. Fire TV may automatically clear an app’s cache when that app has been unused for more than 30 days and the device is low on storage. That is an automatic storage feature, not a Hulu-specific repair.

Can you clear the Hulu cache on a Roku TV or player?
The Roku troubleshooting guide reviewed does not document a per-app cache-clear option for Hulu. Its recommended alternative for streaming or app-opening trouble is to restart the Roku device:
- From the Roku Home screen, open Settings > System > Power > System restart.
- If your Roku does not show a Power submenu, skip it and use the available restart option.
- Alternatively, unplug the Roku from power, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it.
If Hulu still will not load, Roku advises removing and reinstalling the channel. Follow Roku’s official troubleshooting steps for channel and streaming issues.

Check Hulu and Roku software versions
To view Hulu’s version, focus on Hulu on the Roku Home screen and press the asterisk (*) button on the remote. To check Roku device software, go to Settings > System > System Update > Check Now. Hulu lists these steps in its device update instructions.

Samsung’s app-recovery sequence is to cold boot the TV, update its software, delete and reinstall the affected app, and reset Smart Hub only if the earlier steps do not work. Hulu says its Samsung app updates automatically. You can also check for a TV software update through Menu > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Menus differ across Samsung TV generations, so use the labels available on your model. Hulu’s update guide covers the Hulu and TV update routes.
Fix Hulu problems on an LG smart TV
First check that the TV is connected to the internet and that any required user agreements have been accepted. LG’s Hulu troubleshooting guidance then recommends deleting Hulu from the app edit mode and reinstalling it from the TV’s app search. Hulu says LG receives app updates automatically. To check the LG TV’s firmware, open Settings > All Settings > General > About this TV > Check for updates. LG menu labels can vary by model and software version; Hulu’s update guide also describes the platform’s update process.
Resetting the TV to its initial settings is a later option, not a cache-clearing shortcut. LG warns that this reset removes customized settings and installed apps, so try the less disruptive steps first.

What to do on other smart TVs
“Smart TV” covers different operating systems and menus, so there is no single cache-clearing path for every model. Start by closing Hulu or restarting the TV, then check for app and firmware updates. If the manufacturer offers no individual cache control, reinstall Hulu only if the TV supports it. Keep a factory reset as a last resort because it may remove settings and installed apps.
Hulu’s supported-device information includes Roku players, TVs and streaming sticks; Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; Samsung TVs; and LG TVs. That list does not mean every generation has the same interface or features. Check Hulu’s supported-device list and your TV maker’s instructions for your specific model.
