You can run Roblox experiences on Linux with Sober, an unofficial Flatpak application that runs Roblox’s Android client in a Linux runtime. Install it from Flathub as org.vinegarhq.Sober, then complete its on-screen setup. It is not a Roblox-supported Linux client, and compatibility varies by computer and experience.
Before you install Sober
Check these requirements first; a successful installation does not guarantee that every experience will run.

- CPU: Sober’s FAQ instructs users to check
/proc/cpuinfofor thesse4_1andsse4_2flags. Its troubleshooting guide identifies SSE4.2 as mandatory. Checking the flags is more reliable than estimating support from a CPU’s age or model. - Linux kernel: Version 5.11 or newer, according to the Sober troubleshooting guide.
- Graphics: Vulkan is the expected graphics path. The project documents OpenGL as a fallback if Vulkan is unavailable. GPU capability and correctly installed drivers affect whether Sober launches and how individual experiences perform.
- Video memory: Some systems may run out of video memory, particularly at high texture quality. Lowering texture quality may help, but does not make every experience playable.
- Architecture and environment: ARM support is described as an open beta, not production-ready. Virtual machines are unsupported unless GPU passthrough is available, and performance may still be poor.
Roblox Support states, “Linux: Roblox is not supported on Linux.” Sober is an unofficial community project, not a Roblox-endorsed Linux client. The project describes it as research software and notes that Roblox could prevent it from accessing Roblox services. Roblox’s computer requirements and Sober’s FAQ explain the distinction.

Install Sober from Flathub
Sober is distributed as a Flatpak with the application ID org.vinegarhq.Sober. You need Flatpak installed and Flathub configured for your Linux distribution.

- Open Sober’s Flathub listing. If your desktop software manager is integrated with Flathub, use its install option. Flathub also offers a
.flatpakrefdownload if opening the listing in the software manager does not work. - Complete the installation in your software manager, or use the installation instructions for Flatpak and Flathub on your distribution if they are not configured yet.
- Launch Sober from your desktop application menu. To start it from a terminal instead, run
flatpak run org.vinegarhq.Sober. - Follow Sober’s on-screen initial setup to obtain and start the Roblox client. The project documents automatic setup; avoid downloading an APK from an unverified site.
The Sober documentation describes setup and troubleshooting. If you choose a manual package flow, follow the project’s instructions: its guide says the base package and a matching architecture split APK are both required.
What to expect when playing
Sober runs the Android version of Roblox through a specialized Linux runtime; it is not the Windows or macOS desktop client. Its FAQ says the runtime makes some PC-only features and experiences available, but that claim is not a guarantee for every feature or game. Individual experiences can impose restrictions, and compatibility can change as Sober or Roblox changes.

The troubleshooting guide describes an “Could not verify integrity” or error 318 failure associated with Android Remote Attestation. That check can prevent joining an experience. If you encounter it, contact the experience’s developers; do not try to bypass the check. The project’s documented experience status can change without notice, so consult its current troubleshooting guide rather than relying on old reports.

Troubleshoot common Sober problems
Sober closes immediately or will not launch
Recheck the CPU’s SSE4.2 flag and confirm that the kernel is version 5.11 or newer. Start Sober from a terminal with flatpak run org.vinegarhq.Sober to see diagnostic output. You can also inspect logs in ~/.var/app/org.vinegarhq.Sober/data/sober/sober_logs/.
Vulkan or graphics-driver errors
Confirm that your GPU supports the graphics path Sober needs and that its drivers are installed and current. On NVIDIA systems, the troubleshooting guide says the system driver and Flatpak NVIDIA driver must match. The FAQ documents OpenGL as a fallback when Vulkan is unavailable, though whether it works depends on the setup.

Crashes that mention memory
The troubleshooting guide associates some out-of-memory crashes with video memory and high texture quality. Sober may lower texture quality automatically; if the problem persists, follow the project’s instructions for its texture-quality override. Lower quality can help, but does not ensure that every experience will run. A graphics-card upgrade is relevant only if the existing GPU lacks needed support or sufficient video memory; it is not a general prerequisite for installing Sober.
Automatic setup stalls
Sober contacts Google Play APIs to obtain the appropriate package. A connection problem or an ISP block can interfere. Check your internet connection and, if necessary, investigate whether DNS or VPN settings affect access.

Roblox website links do not open Sober
This can be a desktop integration issue rather than an account problem. The project’s troubleshooting guide points to XDG portal and URI-handler setup; follow its instructions for your desktop environment.
When an officially supported client matters
Roblox lists Windows and macOS as supported computer platforms and explicitly excludes Linux. If official platform support is important, use a supported platform instead of relying on Sober. On Linux, Sober offers a way to try playing Roblox experiences, but it comes with unofficial status, graphics and system requirements, and possible experience-level restrictions.
