The listings’ contents and item counts differ, so check the exact product listing and the parts in your package before beginning.

Shell fit is a key compatibility issue. The reviewed retailer recommends a compatible FunnyPlaying GBC laminated shell. A different shell, including an original housing, may need modification to clear the pre-adhered lens; the available documentation does not establish that every original shell is a drop-in fit. Confirm compatibility for the precise shell and screen revision you have. Do not force the shell closed if the panel or lens does not sit naturally.

Gather the parts and tools
- Hispeedido Q10 AMOLED kit for Game Boy Color, with the instructions or diagram for your package revision.
- A working Game Boy Color to serve as the donor console.
- A shell confirmed compatible with your screen kit, if you are replacing the housing.
- A small electronics screwdriver for opening the console. The product documentation reviewed here does not specify a screwdriver type.

Open the Game Boy Color and inspect the board
Remove the console’s batteries and open the housing using the appropriate screwdriver. Keep track of the screws and lift the case carefully so you do not strain the existing display connection. Before changing anything on the motherboard, inspect the cartridge-slot pins and nearby areas for sharp ends or possible contact with the display wiring. Retro Gaming Parts UK recommends trimming sharp cartridge-slot pin ends and insulating them with Kapton or electrical tape to reduce the risk of a short. Treat that as a seller precaution, not a universal instruction to cut pins: verify that your board and kit require it, and follow the exact kit guidance before trimming anything.

Connect and test the display before using adhesive
- Keep the panel’s protection in place. Do not remove its protective sheet or commit the adhesive while you are checking the installation.
- Connect the ribbon carefully. Follow the instructions for your kit revision to align and seat the ribbon. Do not force the connector or bend the ribbon sharply.
- Solder the power lead where the supplied instructions show. The product listing says one wire must be soldered, but the reviewed text does not identify a reliable pad location for every revision. Do not guess or copy a connection from an IPS kit or a different LCD modification.
- Power on and test the display. Check that the screen starts and displays an image before securing adhesive or removing the protective sheet. If it does not work, switch the console off and recheck the connections against the instructions for your exact kit rather than adjusting wiring while powered.
Testing before adhesive commitment is specifically advised by the retailer. A separate ConsoleMods guide for a FunnyPlaying IPS kit also recommends testing first, but it is not the Q10 AMOLED wiring manual.
Fit the laminated panel without pressure
Once the display passes its initial test, position it as directed for your kit and shell. Check that the screen and its attached lens sit evenly and that no wire or ribbon is trapped between the housing halves. Only secure adhesive and remove the protective sheet when the panel’s position and fit are satisfactory.

Bring the shell together gently to check clearance. If the housing resists closing or presses against the panel, stop and investigate shell compatibility or required modification; do not squeeze it shut. The retailer warns that excessive pressure can permanently damage the display. Avoid using instructions for another LCD mod to decide where to cut this kit’s shell: the VideoGamePerfection PDF covers a different GBC LCD replacement, not the Q10 AMOLED kit.
