If your CPU, GPU, or memory is below the listed minimum, temper expectations: that mismatch is a reason for caution, not proof that an upgrade will solve a specific slowdown. If your PC meets the recommended tier and still has dips, that alone does not identify the cause. The page provides no benchmark showing how either tier performs in a given scene.

Record what the slowdown looks like
Before changing settings, note the game build, resolution, graphics preset, and frame rate in a repeatable scene. Also record whether the problem is a consistently low frame rate or brief dips and stutter—for example, when entering a new area or when effects appear. Those symptoms can call for different investigation; an average FPS number by itself can hide short interruptions.
- Keep the scene and route as consistent as possible between comparisons.
- Note whether the issue happens every time in the same place or only occasionally.
- Change one setting or system condition at a time, then compare against your baseline.
These are general PC troubleshooting steps, not a title-specific tested procedure. Community posts from demo builds in 2024 and 2025 mention low or unstable FPS, stuttering, and changes in DLSS behavior, but they involve different builds and systems. Try low-risk troubleshooting first
- Close unnecessary heavy workloads. Quit background applications that are using substantial CPU, memory, or GPU resources, then compare the same scene.
- Verify the installed game files. Use the game platform’s built-in file verification option, then retest. This can check for damaged or missing files; it is not an FPS guarantee.
- Check your graphics driver. Use the graphics-card vendor’s normal driver tools to check for an available driver update. Record the version so you can tell whether the change affected performance.
- Adjust one in-game setting at a time. Lower or change a setting, replay the same scene, and note the result before trying another. The reviewed sources do not identify a particular setting as a proven fix for this title.
What the demo updates establish—and what they do not
The official Prologue Demo version 0.3.1.8 patch notes, dated June 13, 2025, say: “Optimized performance in the waterfall area and during boss battles for a smoother gameplay experience.” That confirms the developers documented an optimization for those demo areas; the notes give no measured FPS change and do not say that all performance issues were resolved. Read the version 0.3.1.8 Steam patch notes in the context of that demo build.
Consider an upgrade only after comparing the whole system
If you are weighing hardware changes, compare your current GPU and CPU with both requirement tiers, and check memory, storage, and component compatibility. Steam names the GeForce RTX 3070 in its recommended GPU tier; that makes it a point of comparison, not a necessary purchase or a verified remedy. The available sources do not establish game-specific FPS uplift, current price, or value for that card or any other upgrade.

Steam lists the full game as coming soon. Until the game is available and supported by relevant measurements, neither its store requirements nor reports from earlier demo builds can predict performance on your exact PC.
