Update Minecraft Dungeons II first, then begin with its default Medium graphics settings. In a post-update test published October 1, 2026, Steam Deck HQ reported about 70–80 FPS at those defaults, including combat. That is one outlet’s observation—not an official target or a guarantee for every Steam Deck or play session.
Update the game before changing settings
Launch-week compatibility reports became outdated quickly. On September 28, Steam Deck HQ said it could not get the game running on its Deck. Mojang’s October 1, 2026 update then said, “The game should now be playable on Steam Deck.” Steam Deck HQ’s October 1 report tested the game after that update. Install the latest game update and relaunch before troubleshooting graphics or compatibility.

Mojang also said that some issues could remain, including missing on-screen keyboard functionality, with further improvements planned before full Steam Deck verification. Check the game’s current update information if you are troubleshooting a later build.
Start with the default Medium settings
Steam Deck HQ reported about 70–80 FPS on default Medium settings in its post-update Deck test, including combat. Treat that figure as a useful reference point, not a controlled benchmark: the report does not establish results for every mission, Deck model, or game session, and it does not provide a complete recommended settings configuration.

To judge your own result, play a representative mission and watch the SteamOS performance overlay through a busy fight as well as quieter sections. If the game feels smooth enough, there may be no reason to change graphics settings.
Try a frame-rate cap only if you want steadier pacing
If you prefer a consistent capped refresh rate over the default or uncapped behavior, test SteamOS’s built-in frame-rate limiter during the same kind of gameplay. Keep the setting that feels smoother to you. There are no cited controlled comparisons of frame-rate limits, graphics options, battery life, or frame pacing for this game on Deck, so a particular cap cannot be recommended as a proven improvement.

Handle text-input problems separately
If a login, text field, or other screen needs typing and the on-screen keyboard does not appear or work, try opening the virtual keyboard manually. Mojang specifically flagged on-screen keyboard functionality as a possible remaining issue. If it persists, report it through the game’s official feedback or bug-report channels.
Playable is not the same as Verified
Valve’s compatibility guidance says a Playable game may require manual user adjustments. Verified is a stricter category: Valve checks controller input, support for the Deck’s default display, text legibility, seamless operation, and Proton and middleware support. Mojang’s October 1 announcement said further improvements were planned before full verification; it did not say the game was Verified.

Steam’s Windows PC minimum requirements list Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G or equivalent, 8 GB RAM, DirectX 11, and a dedicated GTX 1050- or RX 560-class GPU with at least 2 GB VRAM. Those are PC listing requirements, not a Steam Deck certification or an FPS forecast.
Minecraft Dungeons II released on Steam on September 29, 2026. Steam lists Mojang Studios and Double Eleven as developers and Xbox Game Studios as publisher, with single-player, online co-op, split-screen co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer.
