To hide an app on a Samsung Galaxy A12, press and hold an empty area of the Home screen, tap Settings, choose Hide Apps, select the app, then tap Done. This removes the app’s icon from the Apps screen; it does not uninstall the app or lock its contents.

Samsung Australia documents this route for Galaxy devices, while noting that its instructions are designed for Australian variants. Menu names and feature availability can differ by region, device software and personal settings. See Samsung Australia’s Hide Apps instructions.
Unhide an app
Return to the same Hide Apps settings screen and remove the app from the hidden list. In Samsung Canada’s documented interface, tap the red minus icon beside the app under Hidden apps, then tap Done. The control may look different on another version, but manage visibility from the same list. Samsung’s steps are at Manage apps on your Samsung Galaxy.

What hiding an app does—and does not do
Hiding removes an app’s icon from the Apps screen without uninstalling it. It is useful for reducing clutter, but it is not a privacy lock: Samsung says a hidden app may still appear when someone searches for its name in the Apps screen and can be opened from the search result.
Hiding is also different from disabling. Hiding changes whether the app icon appears; disabling affects whether an app can operate. Samsung notes that some system apps cannot be hidden or disabled, and availability depends on the device. Do not assume every preinstalled app on every A12 variant offers either option.

If “Hide Apps” is missing
First check the Apps screen settings for an equivalent option. If it is still absent, the feature may not be available under that menu on your particular model, regional variant or software version. Samsung’s instructions are not universal across all variants.

For stronger privacy, check Secure Folder availability
Secure Folder is a separate Samsung privacy feature, not another name for Hide Apps. Samsung’s general UK guidance explains how to use it but warns that some older models may no longer support it. Compatibility across all Galaxy A12 variants is not established, so check whether Secure Folder appears in Settings on your phone or consult Samsung’s support information for its exact model. A hidden icon alone does not secure an app. See Samsung UK’s Secure Folder guide.
