Each method is chance-based; the game does not guarantee a ring on a particular run or pan.
Where to find the Lucky Ring
| Method | What to do | What is known about the odds |
|---|---|---|
| Skull Cavern | Explore the Skull Cavern and look for special item drops. | The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Lucky Ring entry lists it as a possible special item drop. It does not establish a guaranteed schedule or a probability for a given run. |
| Quarry Mine | Explore the Quarry Mine and look for special item drops. | The same item reference lists this as a possible drop location, but does not provide a guaranteed schedule or a comparable probability. |
| Panning | Pan in eligible water spots when they appear. | The item reference lists the ring as a possible panning find. The odds are strongly affected by daily luck and luck buffs, and a pan is not a guarantee. |
The documentation establishes both cavern locations but does not provide enough comparable probability or time data to say which is fastest. Choose between exploring and panning based on what you are already doing rather than treating one route as definitively better.

How to improve your chances while panning
Panning is the route for which luck is explicitly identified as affecting the chance of finding the ring. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Luck entry distinguishes daily luck, a stat generated for each day, from luck buffs, which can come from food or drink. Both affect the ring’s panning odds.
- Check the day’s fortune and favor a day with higher daily luck.
- Use a luck-boosting food or drink if you have one available.
- Keep expectations realistic: favorable luck improves the odds but does not guarantee a Lucky Ring.
The Lucky Ring reference gives this panning probability formula: (0.4 + x * 0.04 + y) * (x * 0.002 + y), where x is the player’s luck buff and y is daily luck. Its example percentages apply to the particular luck values shown there; they are not fixed odds for every player or every pan.

What the Lucky Ring does
Wearing a Lucky Ring grants +1 Luck. Equipping a second Lucky Ring adds another +1 Luck. The item’s in-game flavor text says, “The lunar emblem is said to bring good luck to whoever wears it.”
The item reference says the Adventurer’s Guild does not sell the Lucky Ring, so searching there is not an acquisition route established by the cited documentation.

The Lucky Ring was introduced in version 1.5, and the luck documentation notes later changes in version 1.6.
