To get more tech points in Soulmask, raise your Mask Awareness, find the yellow tablet markers on the world map, and decipher the Ancient and Divine Tablets they identify. The tablets award Knowledge Points (also called Technology Points), while Mask Awareness determines which technology levels you are allowed to learn. You need both: awareness for access and points for purchasing individual nodes.

What tech points do in Soulmask
Tech points are the currency used in the Knowledge and Technology menu. Press T to open that menu, inspect the bonfire-era technology tiers, and spend points on crafting blueprints, recipes, tools, weapons, buildings, workstations, and production upgrades. The tree is not a single list of items: most useful unlocks sit behind prerequisite nodes, so reaching a recipe can require several earlier purchases.

Increasing awareness by itself does not deposit a matching balance of tech points. Conversely, collecting tablets does not bypass an awareness requirement on a higher-tier node. If the next recipe is greyed out even though you have points, check the awareness requirement and the bonfire-era tier before searching for more tablets.

Where to find the tablets that award points
Ancient and Divine Tablets are the collectible source of the points you spend in the technology tree. They commonly appear in four types of locations:
- On the walls of Mysterious Ruins.
- Inside Ancient Dungeons.
- Inside Holy Ruins.
- At the base of Temple Guardian pyramids.
Open the world map and look for the yellow, gravestone-shaped tablet icons. These markers let you plan a route instead of combing every structure by sight. A marked location can still involve travel, an entrance search, or a hostile area, so treat the icon as the objective and the surrounding ruin or dungeon as the approach.
The Ancient Tablet reference describes the icon and the major structure types where tablets are found. Use the map marker first, then search the marked ruin, dungeon, holy site, or pyramid base for the interactable tablet.

Step-by-step: turn a tablet into tech points
- Raise Mask Awareness. Continue normal activities until your awareness permits the technology level you are targeting. This opens access; it is not the tablet reward itself.
- Open the map. Scan for yellow gravestone-shaped tablet icons, giving priority to markers beside Mysterious Ruins, Ancient Dungeons, Holy Ruins, and Temple Guardian pyramids.
- Choose a practical route. Group nearby markers into one trip so you are not repeatedly crossing the map. If a marker is in a dungeon or ruin, prepare for the surrounding area rather than assuming the tablet is exposed outdoors.
- Reach and interact with the tablet. At the marked structure, locate the tablet and use the interaction prompt.
- Decipher the inscription. Reading or deciphering the tablet is the action that produces Knowledge/Technology Points. Merely discovering the map icon does not spend or award the points.
- Open Knowledge and Technology with T. Confirm that your point total changed, then inspect the node or recipe you want.
- Buy prerequisites first. Follow the connecting prerequisite links and unlock the required earlier nodes before purchasing the final tool, weapon, building, or workstation.
- Repeat as needed. Continue collecting marked tablets whenever your next useful branch costs more points than you currently hold.
If the interaction does not appear, move around the structure and check the tablet’s exact position. A map marker identifies the general objective, not necessarily the side of a wall, the dungeon room, or the pyramid face where the tablet can be reached.
Why you cannot unlock the next technology
You have points but your awareness is too low
This is the most common two-gate misunderstanding. The points balance pays for a node only after your Mask Awareness has reached the level that allows it. Continue normal progression to raise Awareness Strength, then return to the same node. Do not spend your existing points on unrelated branches solely because a higher-tier recipe is temporarily unavailable.
The node has unmet prerequisites
Technology is arranged as a connected tree. A desired recipe may require several nodes above or beside it, each with its own point cost. In the Knowledge and Technology menu, trace the links backward and unlock the missing chain in order. The total cost of a branch is therefore more than the price shown on its final item.

Your bonfire-era tier is behind the recipe
The menu is organized into bonfire-era technology tiers. A node can be visible while still belonging to an era you have not reached. Check the current bonfire-era progression as well as awareness before assuming a tablet is missing.
You are looking at a different technology view
The Soulmask Database lists separate Survival, Warrior, and Tribe views. Its tech-tree page reports “773 technologies across 35 mask levels,” but the exact nodes and requirements depend on the selected mode and the game version. Use that figure as the scale of the reference tree, not as a promise that every character sees 773 identical unlocks. Verify the mode selector and compare the displayed requirement with your in-game menu. The database is available at Soulmask Database’s tech tree.
How to farm points efficiently without wasting them
Route tablets by structure, not by random exploration
Start with the yellow icons closest to your current position. When several markers cluster around ruins, a dungeon, a holy ruin, or a Temple Guardian pyramid, clear them in one outing. This uses the map’s information efficiently and keeps your travel focused on known point sources. Record which markers you have deciphered so you do not revisit a completed location while another marked tablet remains unexplored.

Set one immediate technology goal
Before spending, name the next concrete outcome you need: a tool for gathering, a weapon upgrade, a building piece, a workstation, or a production recipe. In the menu, work backward from that outcome and identify every prerequisite. This produces a purchase list and prevents points from being scattered across branches that do not advance the current base or equipment plan.

Use the four-part unlock test
For each candidate node, ask:
- Immediate usefulness: Does it enable the next required tool, weapon, building, workstation, or production step?
- Prerequisite depth: How many earlier nodes and how many points must be purchased before it works?
- Tier timing: Can you use it at your present Mask Awareness and bonfire-era tier?
- Opportunity cost: Which other branch will be delayed if you buy this chain now?
This test is more reliable than choosing by the most impressive item name. A lower-tier workstation that unlocks several needed recipes can be a better purchase than a powerful item whose prerequisites you cannot yet complete.
Spend after checking the full chain
Open every prerequisite node between your current position and the target. If the chain crosses a tier you cannot yet access, keep the points for a nearer objective or continue raising awareness first. Tablet trips are valuable, but points are still limited by what the current tree allows you to buy.

When you reach a blocked recipe, identify the type of block before taking action:

This separation prevents a common error: repeatedly hunting tablets when the real restriction is awareness, an era gate, or a missing prerequisite.
Should you reset or respec the technology tree?
A reset can recover a character that invested in obsolete branches, but it should be treated as a correction tool rather than a routine way to rearrange points. First map the replacement route, including every prerequisite, then compare it with the branch you already purchased. If the new route does not immediately support your next objective, a reset may leave you with fewer usable options while you rebuild.
A Steam community discussion reports that the first reset may be free and later resets may become costly. That is player guidance, not an official guarantee for every server or patch. Check the reset prompt and its current cost in your build before confirming. The discussion is at Steam Community.
When a reset makes sense
- You unlocked a long branch that does not support your current equipment, base, or production plan.
- You now understand the prerequisite chain and can move points into a clearly defined replacement route.
- The displayed reset cost is acceptable in your current build.
When to keep the existing tree
- The apparent problem is actually low awareness or a bonfire-era gate.
- You are only a few tablet runs away from the next required node.
- You have not yet chosen the replacement chain, so resetting would create another unfocused tree.
What the technology-tree size means
The Soulmask Database states that its reference contains 773 technologies across 35 mask levels. Because the database separates Survival, Warrior, and Tribe views, this number describes the breadth of the reference rather than a universal checklist that every character unlocks in the same order. Exact nodes, costs, and requirements should be checked against the mode and version shown in your game.

The practical implication is that you should not try to unlock everything at once. Choose a near-term outcome, collect enough tablets to pay its chain, and postpone branches that do not serve the current stage of your settlement or equipment.
