If you already own City Transport Simulator 2026, buy the Vienna Expansion. If you are new to the simulator, choose the Vienna Edition, which combines the base game and Vienna content. After installing the October 13, 2026 release, the clearest learning path is tram line 37 or 38 from Schottentor, followed by bus line 35A and then the N35 night service.
Choose the right Vienna package
Your purchase decision depends primarily on whether the base game is already in your library. The Vienna Expansion is downloadable content for existing owners. The Vienna Edition is the complete entry package, combining the base game with the Vienna Expansion and giving new players access to both Tramau and Vienna.

|---|---|---|---|
| You already own City Transport Simulator 2026 | Vienna Expansion | Vienna routes, vehicles and world content added to your existing game | Listed at €49.99 on the official Steam Community hub in 2026; storefront prices can vary by region and change over time |
| You do not own the base game | Vienna Edition | The base game and Vienna Expansion in one package, with access to Tramau and Vienna | Listed at €69.99 on the official Steam Community hub in 2026; verify the live price for your region |
| You own the Season Pass | Vienna Expansion | The expansion is included under the Season Pass | No additional purchase is stated in the official announcement |
Do not buy the standalone expansion expecting it to supply the base game. Conversely, buying the Vienna Edition when the base game is already in your library may duplicate content. Check the account and platform where you play, because ownership is tied to that storefront ecosystem.
Release date and supported platforms
The Vienna Expansion launched on October 13, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Install it on the same platform that holds your City Transport Simulator 2026 license. If the expansion does not appear after purchase, fully close the game, allow the platform to finish downloading downloadable content, and check the game’s add-on or manage-content screen before starting a new profile.

What the Vienna Expansion adds
Vienna is not a single route pack. It adds three daytime services, a night service, four vehicle variants, and a detailed environment built around real Vienna counterparts.
| Service | Mode | Day or night | Endpoints or operating context | Vehicle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 37 | Tram | Daytime | Schottentor ↔ Hohe Warte | ULF A or ULF B low-floor tram |
| 38 | Tram | Daytime | Schottentor ↔ Grinzing | ULF A or ULF B low-floor tram |
| 35A | Bus | Daytime | Spittelau ↔ Salmannsdorf | Citybus C2, solo or articulated |
| N35 | Bus | Night | Night version of the Vienna bus operation | Solo bus |
The official announcement describes more than 1,000 recreated buildings. Roads, intersections, stops and surrounding areas follow real Vienna counterparts, and the Remise Gürtel tram depot is reproduced at 1:1 scale. Those details make the map useful for players who want recognizable urban driving rather than an abstract route editor.
Prepare your first session
1. Complete the basic controls tutorial
New players should finish the basic controls tutorial before loading Vienna. If you already understand the simulator, run a familiar Tramau route first to refresh acceleration, braking, door operation, camera controls and timetable handling. This keeps your first Vienna run focused on learning the map rather than searching for controls.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2. Confirm the expansion is installed
Open the platform’s installed-content or downloadable-content view and verify that Vienna is enabled. Start a route-selection screen and look for lines 37, 38, 35A and N35. If none appears, restart the game after the installation completes and confirm that the purchase was made on the same account and platform used to play.

3. Update before connecting a wheel
Update v2026.3.0 adds enhanced steering-wheel support and compatibility with the latest Logitech G HUB update. A USB gaming steering wheel is optional; a controller or keyboard-and-mouse setup remains the simplest way to begin. Exact wheel compatibility depends on the platform and model, so connect the device only after the game and its platform software are current.
Which Vienna route should you drive first?
Choose a route according to the skill you want to learn. Lines 37 and 38 are the best first choices because both begin at Schottentor, giving you a common starting point while you learn the Vienna map. Bus 35A is a good second step once you are comfortable with timetable and stop handling. N35 belongs later because it changes the traffic and passenger environment.
Start with tram 37 if you want a straightforward first map tour
Line 37 runs between Schottentor and Hohe Warte. Select a ULF A or ULF B low-floor tram, begin at Schottentor, and drive one complete direction before experimenting with schedules or unfamiliar settings. Concentrate on finding each stop, making smooth station approaches and observing the next departure shown by the timetable. Use the return trip to correct any hesitation from the first run.
Choose tram 38 for the Grinzing route
Line 38 also starts at Schottentor and terminates at Grinzing. It is the natural alternative if you want to learn a different branch without changing vehicle type or starting area. Drive line 37 first if you prefer to repeat the same tram workflow; choose 38 when you want to compare the two Schottentor departures and practice reading the route destination before leaving the platform.

Move to bus 35A after the trams
Line 35A connects Spittelau and Salmannsdorf and supports the Citybus C2 in both solo and articulated forms. Begin with the solo C2 while learning the stops and timetable. Once you can keep the service on time, try the articulated version and allow more room for turns and curbside positioning. The route changes the driving task from rail-guided movement to lane placement, stop approach and bus-length awareness.
Leave N35 for a later session
N35 uses a solo bus for night operation. The official description specifies reduced traffic and passenger volumes and longer intervals than daytime 35A service. That quieter environment can be useful once you know the daytime map, but the longer intervals make timetable checks more important. Check the selected schedule and vehicle lighting before departing; do not assume the daytime 35A pattern applies unchanged at night.
A practical first-drive sequence
- Load the Vienna route menu. Select line 37 or 38 and choose a ULF A or ULF B tram. Confirm that the starting point is Schottentor.
- Inspect the departure information. Read the destination and scheduled departure before releasing the vehicle. This prevents leaving Schottentor on the wrong branch.
- Make a controlled departure. Use gentle acceleration, watch the first signal or intersection, and identify the next stop before increasing speed.
- Practice the stop cycle. Approach the platform or curb smoothly, stop accurately, open the doors, allow the passenger exchange to finish, close the doors and verify the next timetable event.
- Complete one direction. Avoid changing vehicles, routes or advanced settings mid-run. A complete trip gives you a reliable baseline for your second attempt.
- Repeat with the other tram line. After line 37, try line 38, or reverse that order. Compare how confidently you can identify the destination and next stop from the same Schottentor origin.
- Switch to 35A. Select the Citybus C2 solo bus, start at either Spittelau or Salmannsdorf, and apply the same one-direction learning method.
- Try the articulated C2. Use it only after the solo bus feels predictable. Focus on wider turns, lane clearance and stopping the full vehicle at the designated point.
- Schedule N35 last. Select the solo night bus, review the longer service intervals and drive with the reduced-traffic, reduced-passenger conditions in mind.
How to learn the trams without getting overwhelmed
The ULF A and ULF B are the Vienna vehicles assigned to lines 37 and 38. On a first run, keep the vehicle choice constant so that route learning is not mixed with a new cab layout. Once you know the route, switch between the two models to learn their controls and handling differences for yourself rather than trying to solve both tasks simultaneously.
- Use Schottentor as your reference point. Both daytime tram lines begin there, so confirm the line number and destination before departure.
- Read the next stop early. Looking ahead gives you time to prepare for the approach instead of braking late.
- Keep station work repeatable. A consistent approach, stop, door and departure sequence makes timetable errors easier to identify.
- Drive a full direction before changing settings. Route familiarity is more valuable than optimizing every control on the first attempt.
How to learn bus 35A
The Citybus C2 gives you two vehicle choices: a solo bus and an articulated bus. The solo version is the safer starting point because it reduces the amount of vehicle length you must monitor while learning Spittelau–Salmannsdorf. After completing a direction on schedule, repeat it with the articulated C2 and pay attention to the rear section while turning and leaving stops.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Bus 35A is also the point where timetable discipline becomes more visible. Unlike a tram that follows a fixed track, the bus requires active lane positioning and stop alignment. Treat each stop as a separate checkpoint: identify it in advance, approach under control, complete the passenger exchange, then verify the next scheduled event before moving on.
Understanding N35 night service
N35 is included with the Vienna Expansion and uses a solo bus. It is not simply a daytime 35A run at a different clock setting. The service has reduced traffic and passenger volumes and longer intervals than daytime 35A operation. Those changes affect how you plan departures and judge whether you are on schedule.
Before launching N35, inspect the timetable rather than relying on memory from 35A. Confirm that the solo bus and night lighting are active, then allow for the longer gap between services. Lower traffic can make the road feel easier, but sparse passenger activity means every missed or mistimed stop is more noticeable in the schedule.
Optional steering-wheel setup
A USB gaming steering wheel is an optional accessory, not a requirement for the Vienna routes. Version 2026.3.0 adds enhanced steering-wheel support and compatibility with the latest Logitech G HUB update. The exact result still depends on your platform, wheel model and driver software.
Best Value

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Install the current City Transport Simulator 2026 update, including v2026.3.0 or later when available on your platform.
- Install or update the wheel manufacturer’s control software and firmware.
- Connect the wheel directly by USB before starting the simulator.
- Open the game’s input settings and bind steering, throttle, brake and any required buttons.
- Test the bindings in a low-risk tutorial or familiar Tramau route before taking a Vienna service.
- If the wheel is not detected, close the game, reconnect the device, confirm that the platform sees it, and start the simulator again.
Because compatibility varies by model and platform, a wheel that works on PC may not behave identically on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Treat the controller as the fallback input while you diagnose device-specific issues.
Common first-session problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Vienna routes are missing | The expansion has not finished installing, or the account lacks the entitlement | Complete the platform download, restart the game and verify the add-on on the purchasing account |
| The route starts at an unexpected place | A different line or direction was selected | Recheck the line number, destination and timetable before departing; lines 37 and 38 begin at Schottentor, while 35A links Spittelau and Salmannsdorf |
| The first tram run feels confusing | Controls and map learning are happening at the same time | Finish the basic tutorial or a familiar Tramau route, then repeat one Vienna line without changing vehicles |
| The bus feels difficult to place at stops | The articulated C2 was selected too early | Use the solo C2 first, complete a direction, then move to the articulated version |
| N35 appears to run late | Night service has longer intervals than daytime 35A | Read the N35 timetable separately and account for its reduced-traffic, reduced-passenger schedule |
| The steering wheel does not respond | Outdated game or wheel software, unsupported model, or incorrect bindings | Update to v2026.3.0, update the wheel software, reconnect USB, verify platform compatibility and rebind controls |
What makes Vienna worth learning
The expansion’s appeal is its combination of recognizable geography and varied service types. The three daytime routes let you begin with two tram lines sharing Schottentor, then move to a bus corridor between Spittelau and Salmannsdorf. N35 adds a quieter night context rather than merely another daytime destination. More than 1,000 buildings, real-world-inspired roads and intersections, and the 1:1 Remise Gürtel depot provide visual landmarks that help you understand where you are while driving.
That variety also supports a natural progression: fixed-track tram operation first, road-based solo bus driving second, articulated bus handling third, and night scheduling last. Following that order minimizes the number of new variables introduced in each session.
