If a Pinterest Pin appears in Discord as a plain link, first check whether Discord is set to show link previews. If that setting is already on, compare the same Pin in another channel, try its direct Pinterest URL, and determine whether the whole preview card is missing or only its image. Those checks help narrow down whether the issue is a personal setting, a channel restriction, the link itself, or image delivery.
Check Discord’s link-preview setting
Discord can display web-link previews beneath messages. Its desktop guidance places the control at User Settings > Display > Messages; turn on Show embeds and link previews if it is off. The setting controls whether previews display automatically for you. Discord’s Display settings guide was published April 16, 2026. If your client uses different menus, search settings for “embeds.”

Find out whether it is one channel or every channel
Post the same Pin URL in another channel or server where you can send messages. If it previews there but not in the original channel, ask a moderator to check whether you and your role have the Embed Links permission in that channel. This is a useful diagnostic possibility, not a confirmed explanation for every missing preview; Discord’s cited display-setting guidance does not document the permission path.

Use the Pin’s direct Pinterest URL
If the link is shortened or passes through a redirect, open the Pin on Pinterest and copy its direct Pinterest address instead. Pinterest says some redirects and URL shorteners are not allowed and recommends linking directly to the source when possible. Pinterest’s broken-link guidance explains this recommendation. Send the copied address as a new message to test it; resending is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed way to refresh a preview.

Identify whether the card or only its image is missing
Check what Discord actually posted. A plain URL with no card points you toward the preview setting, channel permissions, or link form. If a card appears but its image is blank or broken, the problem may instead be image delivery. Discord’s support troubleshooting guidance notes that DNS settings, ISP filtering, or security software can affect image loading. Its ISP examples date to 2023, so treat them as possibilities rather than proof of a current provider issue.
Check Pinterest and your browser if Pinterest itself is failing
If the Pin also fails to load or behave normally on Pinterest, follow Pinterest’s general troubleshooting advice: check your connection, update the app or browser, temporarily disable interfering extensions, and clear the cache.
