Phoenix Cyclops is announced as paid Year 1 DLC for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls; he is not unlocked by completing a gameplay challenge. The announced access route is the Year 1 Character and Stage Pass, included with the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions or sold separately. Official materials reviewed here give a Fall 2026 release window, but no exact date or confirmation that the character is currently downloadable. Check your platform’s store for availability.
Is Phoenix Cyclops one character or two?
Phoenix Cyclops is a single announced DLC fighter, not separate Phoenix and Cyclops characters. Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka described the character as inspired by Cyclops’s Phoenix Five incarnation from Avengers vs. X-Men. His announcement mentions optic blasts, hand-to-hand combat and the Phoenix Force, with more gameplay details to come.

Yamanaka announced Phoenix Cyclops as the first additional Year 1 character on PlayStation Blog on July 23, 2026. The official video description places him in the Year 1 pass and gives a Fall 2026 window; neither source establishes a specific release day.
How to get Phoenix Cyclops
- Own the game on a supported platform. The official MARVEL Tōkon FAQ lists PS5 and PC, with PC availability through Steam and Epic.
- Get the Year 1 Character and Stage Pass. It is included in Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions, and Steam lists it as a separate add-on. The FAQ says the additional DLC characters become accessible upon release.
- Check your platform’s store when the character is released. Confirm the add-on is available for your platform and region, then download it or verify that your pass entitlement is recognized. The published Fall 2026 window is not an exact date, so the store listing is the practical check for current availability.
If you own the physical PS5 Standard Edition, the official FAQ says you can buy a Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade through PlayStation Store and access the additional content after downloading it. The base Standard Edition alone is not listed as including the pass.

The FAQ lists 20 launch characters, and Phoenix Cyclops is not among them. The game also lets players activate the third and fourth members of a selected four-character team during a match. Those are team members becoming active in battle, not fighters being added to your downloadable roster.

According to the FAQ, the remaining team members can be activated through specified attacks or throws that cause a break, selected Skill attacks, a successful light-route Link Attack near the screen edge, or by losing a round. None of those conditions unlocks Phoenix Cyclops as DLC.
