On Android, install Fortnite from Google Play or through the Epic Games Store app. On iPhone, the official route depends on your country or region: check Epic’s current regional guidance and use the official storefront listing available to you. If you cannot install the game natively, Epic lists cloud gaming as another way to play.
Before you download: check your phone
Fortnite has minimum operating-system, memory and graphics requirements. A phone meeting the minimum may still not offer the highest graphics settings; Epic Games Player Support describes Fortnite as “a high-fidelity game.”

Epic’s mobile installation guidance names two official routes: Google Play and the Epic Games Store app. Epic announced Fortnite’s return to Google Play worldwide on March 19, 2026.
- Open Google Play and search for Fortnite, or visit Epic’s official mobile page to use the Epic Games Store app route.
- Choose the official Fortnite listing in the store and follow its installation prompts. Avoid unofficial APK mirrors.
- After installation, open the game and sign in to your Epic account if you want to use your existing account progression. Epic says mobile supports cross-platform account progression.
Epic’s mobile installation instructions explain both routes.

Which storefront can provide Fortnite on iPhone depends on your location. Epic’s current help pages do not describe every storefront region consistently, so check both its regional restrictions guidance and its iOS installation instructions, then confirm Fortnite appears in an official listing available where you are. Epic’s installation guidance specifically says the App Store route is unavailable in Australia; other alternative-store availability is region-dependent.
- Check Epic’s regional guidance for your country or region.
- Use the official storefront route available to you and follow its installation prompts. If using the Epic Games Store app on iOS, Epic’s instructions say to install and open the store app, select Fortnite, then tap Get.
- Open Fortnite and sign in to your Epic account if you want to use your existing progression.
If you cannot install Fortnite, try cloud gaming
Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna as ways to play Fortnite without downloading the game to your phone. Cloud play streams the game rather than installing it locally, and access depends on whether the provider supports Fortnite in your region and on having a suitable internet connection. Check the provider’s availability and setup requirements for your location.

Touch controls and controllers
You do not need to buy a controller to play: touch controls are an option. Epic says external controllers can also be used on mobile, but mouse and keyboard cannot. If you choose a mobile controller, check that it is compatible with your exact phone.
