Check Notification Center first: alerts still listed there can be opened, including individual alerts inside a group. If you cleared an alert or it is no longer listed, Apple does not document an iPhone feature to restore it. You may still find the message or event in the app that sent the alert, depending on what that app retains.
Check Notification Center for alerts that are still there
- From the Lock Screen: Swipe up from the middle of the screen.
- While using another screen: Swipe down from the top-left area.
- Look through the alerts: Scroll to older notifications that remain listed. Tap a grouped alert to expand it and see its individual notifications.
Apple describes Notification Center as a place to review notification history and see what you missed. That history means alerts still available in the center; Apple’s documented instructions do not provide an undo or restore control for alerts you have cleared. Apple’s notification instructions and the iPhone User Guide explain how to view and manage alerts.

Can you recover cleared notification history?
There is no documented iPhone setting for restoring a cleared notification. If the alert is absent from Notification Center, treat the notification itself as unavailable rather than expecting an iOS history or recovery screen to bring it back.
Recommended Free Tools
Find the underlying message or event in its app
Open the app that sent the notification and look for the underlying content: for example, the message, calendar event, or activity that prompted the alert. This may let you recover the information, but it does not restore the notification. Whether the content remains available depends on the app and its retention behavior, so this fallback is not guaranteed.

Review an app’s notification delivery

Check Focus and scheduled summaries
If an alert seemed delayed or did not appear when expected, check whether Focus or a scheduled summary affected when you saw it.
