To get a specific Eevee evolution in Pokémon GO, catch Eevee, collect 25 Eevee Candy, meet that evolution’s requirement, and check the Pokémon’s Evolve icon before confirming. Without a special condition, an evolution gives you a random Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. Nicknames can be a one-time shortcut, but the repeatable methods below are more reliable.
What you need before evolving Eevee
- 25 Eevee Candy for each evolution.
- The desired evolution’s condition, if it has one.
- A check of the Evolve icon on Eevee’s summary page before spending Candy. If the icon does not show the form you want, do not confirm the evolution yet.
Niantic’s evolution help page explains that some Pokémon need extra tasks or an active Lure Module, and that the Pokémon’s details page shows relevant requirements. Pokémon GO Hub’s Eevee evolution guide lists the Eevee-specific methods and thresholds below.

How to get each Eevee evolution

The 10 km walking requirement and 70-heart threshold are reported by Pokémon GO Hub’s Eevee guide; Niantic’s official instructions support checking the Pokémon’s details page for evolution tasks. If the intended form does not appear on the Evolve control, the game has not recognized the required condition yet.
Use the nickname shortcut carefully
Pokémon GO Hub reports that a special nickname can guarantee each Eevee form once per account. Because this is a one-time shortcut per evolution and is described by an independent guide rather than Niantic’s help documentation, save it for a form you especially want. Verify the target shown by the Evolve icon before spending Candy; do not assume the shortcut worked if the icon still indicates a random result.

How to avoid an unwanted evolution
- Open Eevee’s Pokémon summary page and review the Evolve control.
- For Espeon or Umbreon, keep Eevee as your Buddy and check the required walking progress and time of day.
- For Leafeon or Glaceon, stand within range of a PokéStop with the matching active Lure Module.
- For Sylveon, check that the Buddy Heart requirement is met.
- Tap Evolve only when the displayed silhouette is the form you want. If the button does not show that form, wait and meet or recheck the condition.
With no special condition, Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon are random outcomes. If you want one of those three specifically, an ordinary evolution cannot guarantee which one you receive.

Eevee encounter availability can change with events and the current game rotation. The official support information at Niantic’s evolution help page explains how to evolve Pokémon but does not establish a permanent Eevee spawn, Egg, Raid, or event route. Check the in-game map, the eligibility shown for Eggs, and current Pokémon GO event announcements rather than relying on an old spawn schedule.
